Job Summary:

The Catering Manager will plan banquets, weddings, and other social or business functions; supply food and other services; and supervise catering staff. The Catering Manager will also assist in the supervision of The resort’s restaurants in conjunction with the Restaurant Manager and Chef. The Catering Manager will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to refine and improve the services and products offered by the Food and Beverage Department to ensure superior standards in guest services and in providing a positive memorable experience for our guests.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

supervises and develops catering/ banquet staff. Ensures that members of the banquet/ catering staff interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner. Act as a liaison between departments Generate reports and create presentations as needed or requested Ensure clear and consistent and verifiable communication and understanding with guests and other departments by creating, distributing and reviewing

Banquet Event Orders Duties/Responsibilities:

Consults with clients to plan and determine event requirements, including number of guests and size of venue. Discusses menu choices and associated costs with clients. Collaborates with chef regarding special items to be added to the menu. Oversees preparation of the venue for the event. Sets up and arranges tables and chairs, serving stations, lines, tableware, serveware, and silverware. Ensures the venue is clean and that food is handled in a sanitary manner. Maintains accurate records of costs for catering services. Collects payment for food and services as specified in contract. Addresses problems or complaints concerning food or services provided. Maintaining various tracking and filing systems As required, may assist with scheduling and planning of other aspects of the event, including decorations, flowers, photographer, music, or entertainment. Performs other related duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Extensive knowledge of event planning and catering requirements. Ability to work with clients to determine and anticipate needs of the event. Excellent managerial and supervisory skills. Ability to work at a fast pace. Extensive knowledge of food hygiene.

Other Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Manger guest and team member requests and complaints
  • Act as a liaison between departments
  • Generate reports and create presentations as needed or requested
  • Ensure thorough communication and understanding with guests and other departments by creating, distributing and reviewing Banquet Event Orders
  • Understanding of menu costing, forecasting and food and beverage operations
  • Experience evaluating profitable pieces of business
  • Excellent creative skills to implement innovative set-ups, menus and experiences for each group
  • Hands-on professional with a passion to motivate others and a willingness to personally demonstrate excellence
  • Responsible for making the function space visually appealing and presenting the menu offering for the event. This includes linen and table setting, food station design, and beverage service.
  • Excellent skills in team building, training, mentoring and developing a team and achieving goals
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, passion and drive are required to be successful in this position

Education and Experience:

Three years of experience in food service required. High school degree required, Bachelors degree in Hotel Management, Food Management, or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time. Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with unexpected situations. This is a Full-Time year around position but may require additional/different duties in the off-season.
