Role and Responsibilities As the Prepared Foods/Deli Department Manager you are a key player in overseeing and managing all aspects of the in-store prepared foods/deli counters including but not limited to: department profitability, displays, oversee inventory control and leading the team to successfully drive business/sales. Our guest is the heart of our business. As the Prepared Foods Department Manager, you will be responsible for providing every guest with an exceptional shopping experience; listening and responding to their needs and being the subject matter expert of your department. All Prepared Foods Department Managers must have product knowledge, hospitality skills, positive energy, be dependable, possess basic math skills and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Provide exceptional guest service by immediately greeting every guest that enters the department. Oversee multiple-shift operations for both prepared foods and deli departments. Prepare a variety of food products (i.e. rotisserie chicken, turkey thighs and ribs). Operate oven and deli slicer with safety and sanitation standards always in mind. Manage department profitability, merchandising, guest service, appearance, and team member supervision. Write department schedules, approve team members PTO time, maintain timecards and manage labor. Model and deliver outstanding guest service to ensure guest needs are met in a timely fashion. Supervise team members ensuring service standards are always being met. Process and submit orders; keeping track of department inventory. Monitor quality, freshness and safeguard proper product rotation. Adhere to all DOH, DOA and OSHA standards. Ensure department is cleaned and maintained throughout all shifts. Maintain accurate department signage and pricing. Keep records of temperatures, production, spoilage, and department transfers by way of department log. Direct and support team members on department opening and closing procedures. Assist store leadership, as required, to select, train, develop, and mentor team members. Cultivate, develop and retain team members by way of motivation, and providing feedback. Adhere to all assigned duties by management team.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a prepared foods department in a grocery store environment. Flexibility schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to perform physical requirements of job including standing during scheduled hours, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, lifting, push and pull items of usually 50-60 pounds. Food safety and sanitation knowledge. Ability to show initiative, work with limited supervision, and are self-motivated. Ability to hire, train, inspire and develop a team. Team builder and brand ambassador. Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Analytical thinking and proficiency in math needed to perform job responsibilities. Proficient computer knowledge and skills; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
