Job Description

Assistant FSQA Manager – Telford, PA 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 675 Mill Road, Telford, PA 18969 The Assistant FSQA Manager is part of the plant-specific management team responsible for the supervision and management of an individual Godshall establishment’s food safety and quality assurance personnel, policies, and programs. The Assistant FSQA Manager has demonstrated an ability to lead and motivate people, manage FSQA programs, and troubleshoot complex production and compliance issues. This team member provides leadership to the FSQA plant team while managing the day-to-day implementation of food safety, compliance, and customer specific programs. This team member must have demonstrated integrity, strong communication skills, and an ability to manage people and programs at the company level. This team member would be required to have demonstrated a high level of knowledge, experience, and understanding of FSQA related programs, regulations, and policies. This team member will maintain a professional working environment, while providing support for employee training, program development, incident investigations, and the overall success of the company.

Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Responsible for implementing plant-specific food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation programs and procedures including but not limited to: GMPs, SSOPs, SOPs, HACCP plans, and SQF plans and programs.
  • Provide direct supervision to site FSQA personnel, cultivate teamwork, and ensure employees are properly trained to complete their tasks and responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership to the FSQA team and focus on employee development, training, and mentorship.
  • Ensure establishment compliance with Federal, State and plant food safety and sanitary regulations.
  • Ensure overall proper site record keeping for all quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory programs.
  • Determine, administer, and/or investigate corrective actions in the event of processing deviations or unforeseen incidents.
  • Provide assistance to senior management in customer complaint management, 3rd party audits, and program development.
  • Maintain a strong and positive relationship with production and other departmental management teams in performing day-today operations, product quality improvement projects, R D testing, and sales/marketing support.
  • Provide written and oral progress reports to management and company when requested.
Direct Reporting To:
    Corporate FSQA Manager Qualifications:
    Education:
    • Preferred – Bachelor’s or Associate’s degrees in a field of science to include Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or closely related disciplines. o Commensurate experience in meat or food processing and FSQA management will be evaluated and acceptable if lacking the preferred degree attainment.
    • HACCP or PCQI Certified within past 5 years. o HACCP or PCQI certifications completed beyond five years and/or completion of commensurate food safety educational courses or certifications will be evaluated and acceptable if lacking the certification requirements.
    • SQF or other GFSI Certification or sufficient experience managing those programs preferred, but not required.
    Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

    Completed at least 3-5 years or more working within a food safety, compliance, or food industry management role, held a supervisor-level position for at least 12 months, or have obtained commensurate education and experience in the FSQA field in the academic setting.

    • Demonstrated success managing and or supervising multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Sufficient knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety programs.
    • Sufficient knowledge of
    USDA-FSIS

    regulations and requirements for meat and poultry processing.

    • Sufficient knowledge in foodborne pathogens, food spoilage, basic microbiological concepts, and laboratory testing.
    • General knowledge of SQF programs and procedures.
    • General understanding of statistical process controls.
    • General knowledge of meat and poultry processing.
    • Strong leadership skills.
    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Strong quantitative and critical thinking abilities.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Self-motivated and self-directed.
    • Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
    • Strong computer skills and abilities to learn and work with new and existing software.
    Job Type:
    Full-time Pay:

    $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
