Head Chef/Kitchen Manager Spruce on Blackbridge 333 Arsenal Rd, York, PA 17402 Position Summary We are seeking a passionate, driven, and highly organized Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead the culinary operations at Spruce on Blackbridge , a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant and brewery serving up to 700 guests across multiple distinct dining and bar areas. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires creativity, attention to detail, and operational excellence to execute a diverse, elevated menu that pairs seamlessly with our in-house brews and craft cocktails. Key Responsibilities Menu Development & Culinary Leadership Lead the creation, testing, and refinement of innovative, seasonally inspired menus that balance creativity, consistency, and profitability. Work directly with the Head Bartender to coordinate dishes that complement rotating beverage offerings. Maintain and continuously improve recipe specs and plating standards across all stations. Kitchen Operations Manage BOH operations including prep, line execution, quality control, and cleanliness across multiple service areas (main kitchen, pizza kitchen, etc.). Train and supervise all kitchen staff, creating systems for efficiency, accountability, and excellence. Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and health standards (ServSafe compliance required). Inventory, Ordering & Cost Control Maintain accurate inventory systems and par levels for all ingredients, products, and supplies. Oversee food ordering and vendor relationships to ensure optimal cost, freshness, and delivery schedules. Monitor food and labor costs; identify and implement strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining quality. Team Management & Scheduling Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top-tier kitchen staff. Create staff schedules to ensure proper coverage and efficient labor use for daily service and events. Provide mentorship, evaluations, and discipline as needed to maintain a high-performing kitchen team. Collaboration & Events Partner with FOH, bar, and event teams to design and execute large-scale events, private dinners, and seasonal promotions. Act as culinary liaison between departments to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction across all areas of the restaurant. Qualifications Professional kitchen management experience in high-volume restaurants (300+ seats). Proven track record of menu development, cost management, and team leadership. Strong understanding of culinary techniques across a variety of cuisines (especially American steakhouse, seafood, etc.) Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
