Summary:
Cedar International is seeking an experienced Cafeteria Manager at Charleston Regional Center Cafeteria Services. The Cafeteria Manager oversees the full operation of the cafeteria, ensuring that all meals are prepared, presented, and served in a timely, safe, and appealing manner. This role is responsible for managing daily staff activities, maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service, and ensuring compliance with all health, nutrition, and safety regulations. The Cafeteria Manager leads menu planning based on nutritional guidelines and customer preferences, manages inventory and purchasing, controls food costs, and maintains accurate records for audits and reporting. Additionally, the Manager fosters a positive dining environment that supports the overall well-being of all customers, whether in a school, corporate, or healthcare setting. Successful candidates will be proactive leaders who are organized, budget-conscious, and committed to providing a welcoming and efficient dining experience
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage daily cafeteria operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service. Supervise, train, and schedule cafeteria staff to maintain a productive and positive work environment. Plan menus that are nutritious, cost-effective, and appealing to customers. Monitor food preparation and presentation for quality and consistency. Maintain inventory levels, order food and supplies, and manage vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations. Manage cafeteria budget, control costs, and report financial performance. Address customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally. Implement and enforce workplace safety and hygiene policies. Promote a welcoming atmosphere for all customers and employees.
Skills and Qualification Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; degree or certification in hospitality, culinary arts, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in food service management or cafeteria operations. Strong leadership and team management skills. Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks. Basic proficiency with inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems. Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
Standing for long periods (up to 8-10 hours a day) Lifting and carrying heavy items (up to 50 pounds — things like bulk ingredients, equipment, or full trays) Bending, reaching, and stooping frequently Ability to work in an indoor cafeteria setting. Repetitive motion; Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
