We are seeking a motivated Front of House with an in-depth knowledge of food & wine and a great attitude. Must possess a genuine curiosity for hospitality. Vern’s is an independent restaurant founded on good times and community. Our atmosphere is upscale-casual, energetic, refined but unpretentious. Our menu is a mix of elevated, delicious, and innovative food – drawing inspiration from European and American cuisine. Our beverage program is highly curated with a focus on small producers using organic practices, reflecting the ethos of our food purveyors. Vern’s is a warm and intimate bistro-style space with upbeat and attentive service. We are aiming to become a timeless institution in the Charleston culinary community.
FRONT OF HOUSE
MANAGER
We are currently seeking a Front of House Manager who will be involved in our daily operations. Our ideal candidate would embody the restaurant’s personality and brand while leading and driving the Front of House team to provide amazing food and impeccable service. This candidate would not only have great attention to detail but also strong delegation skills and the ability to oversee the entirety of restaurant operations. Positive energy and a can-do attitude is required!
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent at multitasking
Strong leadership skills
Strong innate sense of hospitality
2+ years of management experience
Ability to maintain a good handle of food and labor costs
Knowledge of POS and Reservation systems (we use Toast & Resy)
Strong foundation of wine and beer knowledge / curiosity to learn more
Professional and productive communication skills
Experience working in an upscale yet fast-paced restaurant environment
Must be flexible to work nights, holidays & weekends
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that all guests receive warm and welcoming hospitality and that the Vern’s team is exceeding expectations at all times.
Lead Front of House service team before / during / after operating hours. Ensure everyone stays on task and works efficiently throughout their shifts.
Manage and organize menus Maintain clear and consistent communication with prompt and professional response to emails, texts, etc
Oversee cash handling and financial reporting
Open and close the restaurant
Work closely with our Kitchen team with respectful communication and awareness of BOH needs
During service, you will be either stationed as Maitre D at the door or as Service Support – jumping in as needed to assist the Expo, Bartender, and Servers with table side steps of service
Crisis management as needed to correct problems and ensure our guests and staff are happy
Assist GM / Owner with various administrative duties as assigned, such as: scheduling, inventory receiving and organizing, wine education, restaurant maintenance and repairs As independent owner/operators who will be working alongside you & the team, we are committed to cultivating an environment that feels supportive, educational, enthusiastic, and inclusive.
