We are seeking a candidate to supervisedrivers at one of our locations. The Operations Supervisor providesdirection at a single location, leading staff to ensure customerrequirements are achieved while meeting our Penske goals andobjectives.
Position Summary:
Provide operational leadership toindividual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure theexecution of daily tasks and activities including driverdeliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer serviceoperations in a manner consistent with company services and costobjectives. Supervises most processes directly including people,systems, customer needs, equipment, etc.workforce and equipmentscheduling. Responsible for performance management of directreports. making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up towritten warning level. Involved in the hiring process and customermeetings as necessary.
Major Responsibilities:
People Establish and sustain that all supervisors and associates aretrained and competent and understand how their work relates to thecustomers’ business objectives Establish and sustain that performance standards arecommunicated that are specific and measurable Interview hourly associates and provide recommendations forhire Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performancestandards and provide coaching and counseling to associates Motivate and engage associates by focusing on teamaccomplishments and recognition Operations Supervise logistics operations including customer service,freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentationand procedure control Conduct team meetings Evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods toincrease productivity of dispatch operations. Assist in newassociate training Provide relief coverage for operational duties when associatesutilize time-off or are absent from the shift Have a thorough working knowledge of the site’s operatingsystems in order to ensure operational compliance and correctexception resolution Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely andaccurate fashion Finance Ensure compliance with financial policies & procedures such astracking MPG, returns, damages, etc. Understand the relationship between decision-making andprofitability Closely manage associates’ working hours and activities tominimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets Safety Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities arealigned with the location safety strategy Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, anddirection to ensure safe performance Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies andcompany policies and procedures Conduct safety observations Growth / Customer Experience Understand the location-specific customer goals & objectivesand work to meet and exceed these expectations daily Ensure the customer knows that we are committed to helping themmeet their objectives Determine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvementefforts Fleet/Assets Properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleetequipment Work with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe andefficient operation of equipment Work with vendors to ensure equipment is maintained Work with Penske Truck Leasing to ensure schedule ofpreventative maintenance is complete Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
JobQualifications:
Demonstrated leadership qualities with strong interpersonalskills and have the ability to connect, build rapport and maintainsolid relationships with associates, Company leadership, internaland external customers. Must have ability to work efficiently and independently withstrong time management and organizational skills Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability toactively listen are required Ability to manage through a problem, think critically, and makedecisions independently Ability to drive process improvement and lead change Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel,Outlook and PowerPoint required Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility to run theoperation with a sense of urgency High School Diploma or equivalent required Bachelor’s Degree preferred Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential functionof the job Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule,work at the specific location required, complete Penske employmentapplication, submit to a background investigation (to include pastemployment, education, and criminal history) and drug screeningrequired.
