Food Service Director Marine Resources Development Foundation/MarineLab 51 Shoreland Drive, Key Largo, FL 33037 Join Our Vibrant Team as Food Service Director at MarineLab! As our Food Service Director, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our visiting students are energized and well-fed, contributing directly to their unforgettable learning experience. What You’ll Be Doing:
As a vital member of our Operations Team, you’ll wear many hats, from cook to manager to host in our cafeteria.
Your responsibilities will include:
Creating Delicious and Timely Meals:
Supervising and participating in the preparation, cooking, and serving of quality school cafeteria style meals for our students (and getting more creative for our adult attendees!)
Championing Health and Safety:
Maintaining the highest Department of Health standards in our kitchen and cafeteria.
Leading and Inspiring:
Overseeing and training our dedicated cafeteria staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment. Mastering the
Menu:
Planning appealing menus for children and adults while accommodating various dietary needs and food allergies.
Efficient Operations:
Managing food and supply inventory, placing orders, and ensuring proper storage.
Budget Savvy:
Managing the food service budget effectively.
Team Collaboration:
Communicating program needs to the Senior Vice President and collaborating with the wider MarineLab team. What You’ll Bring to the
Table:
Experience coordinating food services, ideally within a school or student setting. Comfort and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, online communication tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.), and basic computer tasks. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a knack for effective time management. A patient, warm, positive, and understanding attitude towards children. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs. A reliable personal vehicle for occasional last-minute grocery needs (mileage reimbursed!). Flexibility and the ability to adapt to varying daily and weekly schedules. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues. A ServSafe Food Manager certification (or the ability to obtain one). Life at

Picture this: the sun-drenched Florida Keys as your backdrop! You’ll be working in a dynamic environment where you’ll interact with enthusiastic students eager to learn. Our cafeteria serves as a hub where students refuel after exciting field trips and connect with their peers. While mealtimes can be lively, you’ll be contributing to a positive and supportive atmosphere. Our meal service schedule generally falls within these windows: Breakfast (6:30 AM
- 9:00 AM), Lunch (11:00 AM
- 1:30 PM), and Supper (4:00 PM
- 7:30 PM).
Please note that the specific meals served each day and your daily hours will vary based on the needs of our student groups and other operational demands. While our busiest period is typically February through June (often exceeding 40 hours per week), the summer and winter months offer a more relaxed pace. MarineLab operates year-round, with the exception of a two-week break at the end of August and again around the Christmas holidays.
