Food Service Specialist Position Summary The Food Service Specialist supports the daily operations of the school’s lunch program by coordinating food preparation, ordering, compliance with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and food safety. As part of the food service team, the Food Service Specialist works collaboratively to provide high-quality, nutritious meals in a Christ-centered environment that reflects Trinity Delray’s mission and values.

A family growing in Christ, highlighted by dynamic teachers, excelling in academics, arts, and sports. Reporting Structure The Food Service Specialist reports directly to the Principal. They serve as a collaborative member of the food service team, with all food service staff reporting individually to the Principal and sharing responsibilities equitably. General Responsibilities Champion the mission, vision, and values of Trinity Delray. Maintain regular worship attendance and actively participate as a member of the church community. Adhere to all policies and procedures in the Staff & Volunteer Handbook and Human Resource Manual. Demonstrate ongoing spiritual growth and servant leadership. Represent Trinity in the broader community with professionalism and integrity. Maintain appropriate availability and responsiveness, including during off-site hours and work as needed. Specialized ResponsibilitiesProgram Oversight and Compliance Develop and implement monthly menus that meet NSLP nutritional and portion requirements. Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines relating to the NSLP and school food safety. Maintain accurate records, including production logs, food temperatures, purchase receipts, and monthly reimbursement reports. Submit timely NSLP documentation and ensure the school remains in good standing with all food program regulations. Ordering and Inventory Management Manage food and supply ordering to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining required stock levels. Monitor inventory to minimize waste and avoid shortages. Collaborate with the Business Office to manage food service budgeting and vendor relationships. Kitchen and Lunchroom Management Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food storage area. Ensure proper sanitation practices and compliance with all food handling regulations. Set up and supervise daily lunch service, ensuring meals are served efficiently and with hospitality. Team Collaboration and Peer Support Provide ongoing training on food safety, portioning, customer service, and kitchen procedures. Share daily responsibilities and collaborate with other food service staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Foster a team-oriented, Christ-centered kitchen culture of service, accountability, and hospitality. Student and Family Engagement Provide a welcoming, efficient, and respectful lunch experience for all students and staff. Communicate proactively with parents and teachers regarding allergies, dietary restrictions, and menu information. Model a heart of service during mealtimes and help foster a calm and respectful lunchroom environment. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree or higher in Food Service Management, Nutrition, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in institutional food service, preferably in a school setting. Familiarity with NSLP operations and USDA guidelines. ServSafe Manager or Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain). Minimum Qualifications Active Christian faith and willingness to support the mission and vision of Trinity Delray. Prior food service or kitchen management experience. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to interact with children, parents, and staff in a courteous, friendly, and Christ-like manner. Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and adapt to the needs of a school environment. Physical Requirements Will be required to work in person, on the campus of the school. Able to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding kitchen work. Lift and carry up to 40 lbs regularly. Safely operate kitchen equipment and perform routine cleaning tasks. Comfortable working around young children, including sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs. Able to lift and carry small children up to 80 pounds in emergencies. Physically able to stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch as needed.
