Food Service Director/Chef Prema at Ashton Hills 10050 Eagle Drive, Covington, GA 30014

Job Summary:

As the Food Service Director, you will manage the food service program in line with nutritional standards, Prema at Ashton Hills LLC (“Prema”) Policies and Procedures, and the allotted food service budget. Your duties will include preparing and ordering food, overseeing dining services, planning food service for special events and activities, maintaining food inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supervising food service employees. Keeping the dining service areas clean and sanitized and overseeing the receiving, rotation, and storage of products will also fall under your purview. This role reports to the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Ideally, you should have a minimum of one-year experience as a chef/cook in a long-term care setting. Certification in food preparation training is preferred. Previous experience in a supervisory or management role is an asset. You must have a current food service sanitation certificate. A willingness to work with older adults is necessary. The ability to read, write, and speak English is required. You must be at least 21 years old and have a clean criminal history check. A physical examination by a licensed doctor is mandatory. You must also have a negative drug test. The ability to respond promptly in an emergency situation is critical.

Primary Responsibilities :

Develop weekly menus following Prema policies and procedures, and ensure a mix of nutritious foods and seasonal offerings. Keep an ample inventory of food and supplies from vendors approved by the residence. Prepare and cook food in accordance with nutritional guidelines and residents’ personalized diets and food preferences. Present food in an appealing and attractive manner. Create and maintain weekly resident menus. Make sure residents receive a copy of the menu. Assist in promoting residents’ independence with eating by providing adaptive equipment as required. Ensure food delivery is timely, pleasant, and in line with the Prema Dining Program. When available, visit with residents at each meal and ensure they are receiving quality service. Prepare food and coordinate food service for special events as needed. Encourage residents to participate in the food service program and provide a platform for their feedback. Ensure compliance with local health department regulations and Prema policies and procedures. Maintain Food Safety Manager Certificate. Keep a clean, orderly, and safe kitchen environment. Oversee proper storage and handling of food in line with infection control standards. Maintain CPR & First Aid certification. Handle the recruitment and hiring of food service employees as well as staff scheduling. Supervise food service employees and ensure adequate staffing in the food service department. Lead by example, encourage teamwork, promote residence philosophy, and provide ongoing coaching to employees. Conduct regular performance appraisals with employees. Ensure correct handling of on-the-job injuries as reported by employees. Oversee and implement training for all food service employees following state and federal regulations, residence policies, and training programs. Other primary responsibilities are required for this role as requested by the Executive Director.

Knowledge Requirements include:

Familiarity with state food handling and kitchen regulations. Understanding of OSHA Standards. Knowledge of Fire and Safety Procedures. Ability to operate Kitchen Appliances.

Physical Job Demands and Requirements:

Assist in the transfer of residents, adhering to proper body mechanics and safety measures. Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Frequently kneel, bend, and reach. Sit for up to two hours a day. Frequently support up to 70 pounds.
