Operations Manager Job Summary:
The Cafe Kitchen Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring food quality, safety, and cleanliness standards are met. This role includes supervising kitchen staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring efficient workflow. The Cafe Kitchen Lead will act as a role model, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Management:
Oversee the preparation, cooking, and plating of menu items according to cafe standards. Ensure kitchen operations run smoothly during all shifts.
Staff Supervision:
Schedule, train, and supervise kitchen staff. Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and coaching. Foster a positive team environment and resolve conflicts when necessary.
Food Quality and Safety:
Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and consistency. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage practices. Conduct regular kitchen inspections and address any issues promptly.
Inventory and Supplies:
Monitor inventory levels and place orders to avoid shortages or overstocking. Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate records. Reduce food waste through efficient inventory management and portion control.
Operational Efficiency:
Develop and implement processes to optimize kitchen workflow. Collaborate with the Cafe Manager to improve menu items and operations. Handle equipment maintenance and report issues as needed.
Customer Focus:
Ensure that customer orders are prepared accurately and in a timely manner. Address customer feedback related to kitchen operations with professionalism.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a kitchen leadership role, preferably in a cafe or similar setting. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed.
