Food Prep Supervisor The Black Whale Coastal Cuisine 106 MacArthur Dr, New Bedford, MA 02740 Overview The Black Whale is the premier high-volume restaurant (200 seats, over $11,000,000 in sales) on the South Coast of Ma, serving Innovative Coastal Cuisine. It is part of Servedwell Hospitality, owners of Cisco New Bedford, and Joe’s Original restaurants. We are known for high quality creative dishes and sushi, paired with excellent service, in a one-of-a-kind waterfront location. We are seeking an experienced Prep Supervisor with a minimum of 2 years of experience to join our highly successful and growing restaurant company! Applicants must possess a passion for great food, hospitality and strong culinary skills. You will be responsible for overseeing creating an unforgettable guest experience through the proper preparation of the best tasting recipes around and you will be a member of a team that supports each other’s success in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Supervisor to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to precision preparation, quality and inventory control. As a Prep Supervisor, you will play a vital role in our kitchen and prep operations, ensuring that our guests receive exceptional dining experiences through expertly prepared meals. Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards. Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation throughout the kitchen. Oversee kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service. Monitor food inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed. Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health regulations and safety guidelines. Keep the kitchen organized, clean, and well-stocked at all times. Skills Proven experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook or in a similar role within the food industry. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills. Familiarity with fine dining standards and catering services is preferred. Understanding of food safety practices, including proper food handling and storage. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively oversee kitchen staff. A creative mindset with a passion for menu planning and innovation in culinary presentations.
