Packaging Line Lead (2nd Shift) Summary The purpose of this roleis to assist in packaging metered dose inhalation (MDI) products ina pharmaceutical manufacturing company. Training and Safety Allemployees must undergo various training activities at the start oftheir employment. New training and re-training will occurperiodically. Operators may be required to cross-train in all areasof the packaging operations. Employees must strictly adhere to allsafety, health, and environmental guidelines always and ensure thatall safety precautions are being taken during handling of machines.
Job Description The Packaging lead performs all functions relatingto the production of MDI (Metered dose inhalation) products;consistent with established Current Good Manufacturing Practices(cGMP), good documents procedure (GDP), customer requirements andin conjunction with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).Incumbents in this position are responsible for the safe andefficient execution of their job duties, while ensuring productcompliance to established standards.
The primary nature of this jobis to serve as a Packaging Lead. As a secondary requirement, thisposition will be expected to provide support to other operationalfunctions to include but not limited to Warehouse Operations,Manufacturing Operations, and Facilities Operations.
Responsibilities Dispensing raw material and primary packingmaterial as per work order and checking of raw material and primarypacking materials. Ensure the proper planning and execution ofbatches. Performing and checking of cleaning and sanitation ofproduction area and machinery as per respective SOP. Dailymonitoring of production. Performing and checking packaging processand documentation in batch record and log books. Ensuring ofmachine operations with minimum rejections and maximum outputswhile maintaining quality standards within the standard norms.
Checking equipment and perform necessary maintenance on machinery.
Safeguard equipment for smooth functioning with co-ordination ofengineering for preventive maintenance and calibration. Maintaininginventory of machine parts, tools and accessories. Workingindividually and in collaboration with others as part of a team.
Coordinating with other departments like packaging, engineering, QAand QC for better planning and execution. Check and ensure statuslabelling at all stages of packaging. Identifying and assisting inany corrective actions. Perform, check and ensurecalibration/verification of instruments, equipment and weighingbalances as per schedule. Perform line clearance activities.
Wearing appropriate PPE as stated in the SOP before entering anyprocessing areas. Executing procedures to complete tasks in a safeand efficient manner. Performing duties through the proper safe useof equipment, according to Health & Safety procedures and EquipmentManuals. Performing other related duties assigned. Be able tooperate a computer with ease. Knowledge of pharmaceutical packagingand related documents. Monitor workers on site during productionactivities to ensure adherence to ethics and safety proceduresKnowledge of SAP system, master control and Track wise system.
Basic understanding of deviation, CAPA, change control, FMECA,OOS,OOT and OOAC. Maintaining and followed 100% cGMP, GDP and SOPCompliance during complete operation hours. Complying with allcompany policies and procedures. Reporting all issues that arisesto the department head or reporting manager. Performing dailymaintenance on equipment and machinery. Completing alldocumentation in a timely manner, ensuring their integrity,accuracy and completeness. Maintaining discipline in department.
May be required to assist in the training of other employees in thedepartment. Flexible to work extended hours, to achieve packagingschedule when needed Requirements High school diploma or equivalentis required. Accredited college certificate or university degree ispreferred. Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing experience in thepharmaceutical industry. MDI or aerosol products experience ishighly preferred. Proficient in the English language(Speaking/Reading/Writing) to understand work instructions anddocument results. Knowledge of fundamental cGMP and regulatoryrequirements in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment highlypreferred. Basic understanding of mechanical machinery and theoperating principles of control systems. Ability to follow bothverbal and written instructions. Demonstrated ability to work inboth independent and team environments. Good knowledge of Health &Safety procedures, including OSHA. Strong mathematical andorganizational skills. This position requires the ability to doheavy lifting / bending frequently. Ability to wear appropriate PPEis required. Individual may be required to wear respiratory devicesthat include but are not limited to: Air Purifying Respirators(APR) which include half-face and full-face negative pressurerespirators, hooded powered air purifying respirators, or SuppliedAir Respirators (SAR), which include hooded or full face suppliedair respirators. Every packaging project requires thesupervision of a skilled and experienced person to guide the teamin ensuring production efficiency and quality; and that is wherethe packaging team leader comes in. The Lead exhibits greatleadership skills by showcasing knowledge and skills to the teammembers, giving them direction to go about their tasks and dutieson the job. The Lead motivates members of the team to harness theirpotentials and work harder for the execution of projects. The Leadassigns tasks to team members and giving them specific directionsand procedures to follow in carrying out assigned tasks. The Leadmonitors team members in the course of their work and ensure thatthey comply with the standards of operations obtainable in theestablishment. The Lead is responsible for providing leadershipwith coordination of their direct supervisor for the team involvedin packaging environment. This means that they are directly engagedin active feedback and providing directions on improving executionof work projects. The leader sometimes takes the wheel and showshis/her team members practical ways to execute difficult tasks. TheLead gives the team members a clear direction of how to tackle suchtasks on their own in the future. The Lead recognizes thecontributions of every team member and encourages them to worktogether in harmony, sharing ideas and maintaining good workrelationships in the execution of production tasks. The Lead placesthe safety of the team members in high esteem and educates them onsafety tips and procedures to adhere to during packaging process.
