Kitchen Supervisor TRV Position Summary:

The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for maintaining standards of operations in the kitchen facilities for Transformation Village. The Supervisor will report directly to the Director of Transformation Village and will work directly with the Food Services Manager and the Volunteer Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

Will assist the Director of Transformation Village in overseeing all aspects of the food service operation, on a per shift basis; all dietary employees and all volunteers serving in the dietary program at TRV. Will ensure the Shift Leader has performed opening and closing checklist for the kitchen on a daily basis. Will assist the Food Services Manager and Shift Leader in the training of all dietary employees and kitchen assigned resident personnel. Will ensure the safe and proper operation of all kitchen equipment, and will report all maintenance issues to the maintenance department and the Food Services Manager. Will ensure that all food products and equipment are stored and utilized according to ServSafe standards and the expectations of the Buncombe County Health Department, to include all freezers, coolers and storage areas. Will observe and report all tracking information of temperature logs and sanitation logs as well as other reporting the Food Services Manager deems required. Will perform “whiteboard” planning and logistics as trained by the Food Services Manager ensuring all prep and thawed product is delegated and completed. Will graciously receive all food donations and provide safe storage of those donations. Will conduct volunteer orientations and provide training and information as needed to ensure the safety of all kitchen volunteers. Track and report volunteer activities and team details to the volunteer coordinator as well as the Food Services Manager. Will lead the weekly Kitchen Staff Meeting and assist the Food Services Manager in the weekly menu planning. Will assist other ministry staff and the Volunteer Coordinator as needed. Will attend at least one TrV Assembly each quarter. Will schedule Shift Leaders for shift coverage monthly. Will perform inventories of all food product and assist in ordering with the Food Services Manager. Will maintain perpetual USDA inventories and reports. Will promptly deliver invoicing to Foods Services Manager for posting to accounts payable. Will communicate any kitchen assigned resident issues to case management and Director of Transformation Village. Will conduct quarterly internal inspections with the Food Services Manager. Will participate in quarterly inspections of all federal local regulatory authorities with the Food Services Manager. Will conduct quarterly training of Shift Leaders on subjects designated by the Food Services Manager. Will ensure Shift Leaders maintain required ServSafe certifications. Will take ownership and pride of their work and workspace. Will have professional and constructive communications with Shift Leaders. Will coach and develop shift leaders on professionalism in foodservice. Skills /

Preferred Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Valid ServSafe Foodservice Manager’s Certificate Valid Proctor’s Certification in ServSafe Associates Degree in Applied Science in Food Technology or Equivalent Preferred Relationships /

Working Environment:

The Kitchen Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Transformation Village and works directly with the Food Services Manager as well as case management staff. This position also works directly with residents and volunteers, community partners and clergy, as well as students. This position works in a professional kitchen and requires occasional local travel.

Physical Demands:

Must be ambulatory; must be able to operate a vehicle; must have visual/hearing acuity. Must be able to write legibly. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to write and use a computer and other typical office equipment on a regular basis. Must possess dexterity, stand, sit, walk, lift and carry fifty pounds for short distances.

Mental Demands:

Must have strong, positive verbal skills; must be able to comprehend instructions; comprehend/ interpret charts, diagrams, and recipes, and possess inductive and deductive reasoning.
