Description of Work Boiler Operator Lead
- 3rd shift Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Night shift Lead Boiler Operator.
Lead Boiler Operators provide hot water and steam for domestic hot water as well as heating needs. This department is on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The staff in this department operate without any redundancy and any and all vacancies will require increased overtime as well moving staff from other departments to help cover safely this work, which results in services being affected negatively and preventing those groups from completing their mission. The individual in this position must have the physical strength sufficient to perform heavy physical tasks on a periodic basis. ADA requirements will be discussed during the interview. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay overnight during adverse weather events.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Accompanying elevator repair contractors while on site, for safety and privacy reasons.
- Acting as a dispatch point for emergency maintenance calls, after-hours and on the weekend.
- Prepping boilers for periodic inspection by Insurance representatives and Department of Labor.
- Routine maintenance of pumps, pipes, and equipment serving the boilers inside boiler plant building.
- Routine inspection and maintenance of unmanned boilers placed in various areas around campus.
