SUMMARY The primary purpose of this job position is to be responsible for satisfactorily handling situations as they arise in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dining Room Manager and/or Director of Culinary Service, to assure that quality service is provided at all times. Direct supervision of dining room employee’s day to day task and assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
include the following. Responsible for satisfactorily handling situations as they arise with both residents and associates. Responsible for creating enjoyable dining experiences for residents and guests. Supervises the activities of all service persons in the dining room to ensure proper service and sanitation procedures are followed. Assists in training of new service team members, under the direction of the Dining Room Manager. Responsible for supervising the opening or closing of all dining venues and checking the servers to be sure their side work and station setup is properly completed. Assist the Dining Room Manager in the set-up, implementation and tear down of all special functions throughout the facility. Promotes clean, safe and neat environment for residents, self and staff. Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures, and assists with evacuation of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency. Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal and medical record information. Assists Dining Room Manager in conducting Showtime and directing day to day assignments of service staff. Cooperates with staff of other departments in performing job duties. Follows all Policies & Procedures of The Sharon at SouthPark; including the consumption of food on property. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write and speak and understand English. Good communication skills , sound mental and physical health; ability to get along well with others; to demonstrate flexibility and patience; to work as a member of a team; to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people, especially older adults. Must have personal integrity; must function independently; must be able to verbally communicate with residents and staff; must dress appropriately, no shorts or mini skirts. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High School preferred. Prior supervisory or waitress experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Become Safe Serv certified within 6 months of accepting position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age; capable of standing and walking for 4 or 8 hour shift; carrying and balancing a 10 to 15 pound tray; frequent stooping and bending. Must have the ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements can be fully met. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher, telephone, ice tea machine, soup well and coffee machine.
