Ice Cream Kitchen Lead Two Roosters Ice Cream Raleigh, NC Two Roosters Ice Cream is hiring a Kitchen Lead to help manage a team and craft delicious, small-batch ice cream and toppings in a fast-paced, high-volume production kitchen. This role requires independent work, teamwork, and attention to detail while following recipes and maintaining food safety standards. Description We’re looking for a passionate, hard-working, and self-motivated team player to help craft our delicious ice cream! As a Kitchen Lead, you’ll be at the heart of our production team, creating the ice creams and toppings that keep our shops, catering, concessions, and vending fully stocked. You’ll also help fulfill wholesale and special orders—all while maintaining the highest quality and food safety standards. The Kitchen Lead works closely with the Director of Kitchen and Logistics to manage production tasks, ensuring recipes are followed and our signature treats are produced efficiently and consistently. This role reports directly to the Director of Kitchen and Logistics and serves as the primary leader and point of contact in their absence. At Two Roosters, we’re looking for someone with prior food service experience to lead and support our production team in crafting our signature ice creams. On an average day, you’ll start at 6:30 AM and work until production is complete—typically between 1:00 and 4:00 PM—churning out large batches and collaborating with the team on exciting new flavors. You’ll lead, manage, and train the production crew to meet daily, weekly, and seasonal goals, ensuring the efficient, high-volume output of 200+ tubs of ice cream per day. You’ll also prepare ingredients, bases, toppings, and inclusions according to our standards and empower the team to maintain excellence in every batch. Every finished tub should meet our quality standards to help create outstanding customer experiences—because we believe the joy of ice cream can make a bad day better and a good day great. Kitchen Lead Responsibilities Ensure efficient, high-volume production of 200+ tubs and pints of ice cream per day. Properly label, date, pack, and store pints of ice cream and sorbet each day. Empower, coach, and train team members to meet production expectations with excellence. Perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift while maintaining time management targets. Prepare ingredients and produce homemade bases, toppings, and inclusions, including hot fudge, cookie dough, caramel sauces, fruit compotes, baked items, and more. Accurately inventory tubs, pints, toppings, and bases to inform the daily production plan. Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly inventory counts as needed. Communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully with all team members. Thoughtfully complete daily cleaning tasks to ensure all kitchen areas remain clean and organized. Maintain a clean-as-you-go approach, keeping workspaces tidy and organized throughout the shift. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. Kitchen Lead Qualifications Passion for food, cooking, teamwork, and quality. Ability to measure ingredients accurately and perform basic kitchen math. Capable of working independently while also being a dedicated and collaborative team player. Availability for 40 hours per week. Strong dedication to cleanliness and organization. Excellent communication skills with a professional and friendly attitude. Willingness to learn, follow instructions precisely, and pay close attention to detail. Must be 18 years or older.

Vacation policy:

Between April 1 and October 31, vacations may not exceed 10 days. Between November 1 and March 31, vacations may not exceed two consecutive weeks. All vacations require approval from the Kitchen and Logistics Director, based on shift coverage, staffing, and business needs. Ability to stand for up to eight hours and lift 50 pounds repeatedly. Access to a phone with texting, calling, and internet capabilities. Basic understanding of Google software (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.). Compensation $25/hr base pay 10 days accrued PTO per year We cover 50% of our group medical, dental, and vision insurance plan premiums for employees that work more than 30 hours per week as a 30-day average. New employees become eligible for coverage the first day of the month following completion of the 30-day waiting period. A spouse and children may be insured on company plans at the employee’s expense. 401k with employer match. We match 100% of the first 3% of the employee’s contribution, plus 50% of the next 2%. Employees are eligible for 401k participation when they have worked at Two Roosters for 1,000 hours. Every five years (or 10,000 hours) of continuous service, full-time employees are eligible to take a paid, one-month sabbatical Salary $25 – $25 per hour
