This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage shifts in a fast-paced environment. Herbie’s a late-night restaurant and MOST shifts exist between the hours of 6pm and 2am. Closing Shift availability is required. The Shift Leader is the responsible party & primary point of contact for upper management during scheduled shifts. It is important to note that this is NOT strictly a supervisor position. The Shift Leader is an integral member on the CREW when scheduled. They must perform all tasks of the job WITH the crew. Responsibilities Be an exemplary team member – perform all duties of the job at the highest level, including but not limited to: cooking (working grills & fryers), cleaning, and prep Lead and supervise team members during shifts, ensuring adherence to operational standards, rules, and company policies. Training and guiding less experienced staff whenever necessary Watching over other staff and enforcing food quality standards Manage staff positioning – making sure all scheduled staff is in positions that best suit their skill sets and the needs of the restaurant Ensure all prep is taken care of Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly to ensure a positive dining experience. Problem solve throughout shifts – be able to think and troubleshoot issues without assistance from upper management Requirements Proven experience in food service or a related field Strong knowledge of food production processes Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally. Experience in shift management Ability to train staff effectively, fostering a collaborative team environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
