Job Summary:

The Kitchen Lead works alongside with and reports to the Deli Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistent food quality, product organization, and team performance. This role includes supervising kitchen staff, assisting with recipe development and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and efficiency. The Kitchen Lead is expected to model excellent service and support the overall goals of the market. Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team by example
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Preferred experience/skills
  • Prior experience in cooking, baking, or food preparation
  • Creative eye for food presentation and product displays
  • Understanding of ingredients usage efficiency and cross-utilization Skills/other requirements
  • Basic math proficiency for recipe measurement and inventory tracking
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 40lbs during shift with or without reasonable accommodation Primary responsibilities:
  • Support the Deli Manager in all day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Prepare and cook recipes daily
  • Supervise staff on kitchen procedures and company policies
  • Receive, unload and stock food items when delivered
  • Monitor food inventory, storage, labeling, and rotation to minimize waste
  • Coordinate product and packaging needs with both Deli and Materials Purchasing Managers
  • Ensure displays are fresh, well-stocked and visually appealing
  • Operating all food preparation machines and equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized environment
  • Address customer questions or concerns professionally
  • Uphold and enforce food safety standards
  • Delegation of responsibilities and training new hires on company policies and guidelines
  • Participate in reviewing profit and loss metrics and provide suggestions for improvement

Long periods of walking and standing are required for the duration of the shift. The job requires the lifting, carrying, and adjusting of containers of product weighing up to 40 pounds. Physical appearance : Team members are expected to wear clean, practical and professional attire appropriate for a kitchen environment. Clothing should support safety and hygiene. Full expectations are detailed in the Employee Handbook, reviewed prior to employment.

Structure:

This position is categorized as full time. Schedule flexibility is required, including availability for evenings, weekends, and some holidays. During peak seasons (summer and fall), at least 2 out of 4 Saturdays per month are expected. Hours may be reduced in the off-season (winter).
