PART TIME TOUR GUIDE

• PT Tour Guide @ Miss Laura’s

JOB SUMMARY

This position will work under the supervision of the Museum Manager and the Executive Director for the Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau (FSCVB). This position is responsible for providing guided tours of Miss Laura’s. Minimal housekeeping and light maintenance chores may be required. This position may be required to assist with tour guide scheduling via Google. This position will be responsible for cash handling and operating the gift shop. This position will be responsible for monitoring the Miss Laura’s email account and will be responsible for assisting with social media and website content.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides guided tours of Miss Laura’s, which includes but is not limited to:
? Walking, standing and talking for extended periods of time
? Customer service
? Making sure the building is clean and ready for visitors
? Being comfortable speaking about and becoming educated about difficult topics that exist in Fort Smith History
? Being on time and present for assigned shifts
? Utilizing a computer to continue researching the history of Fort Smith. Be teachable and willing to learn new information. Source check any new information.
? Operating cash register and gift shop software. Stocking, displaying and marketing gift shop items.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

? Assists with set up and execution of large group tours when asked
? Assists with keeping inventory shelves neat and stocked
? Handles mail and correspondence as required and directed
? Protecting the artifacts from being touched, harmed and mistreated
? Becoming familiar with and following policies and procedures

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Minimum of two years previous organizational experience is required to handle the duties of this position.
Basic public speaking experience, computer skills, and knowledge of retail practices. OTHER SKILLS and

ABILITIES

The incumbent should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The incumbent must possess good computer and organizational skills. Problem-solving and analytical abilities are required to perform the duties of this position. The incumbent should have knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Must possess the ability to become familiar with and understand the City of Fort Smith policies and procedures.
