KidsTown Coordinator Orlando Science Center. – 4.0 Orlando, FL Job Details Full-time $19 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Bilingual Customer service Public speaking Mid-level Experience with children Child Development Leadership Early Childhood Education Full Job Description The KidsTown Coordinator is responsible for providing quality play and learning experiences for the Science Center’s youngest learners. This position will supervise part-time staff, volunteers, and interns, and provide administrative and operational support for the KidsTown Team. Essential Functions Works with a high degree of independence on multiple projects in parallel. Engages comfortably with young children and their accompanying adults and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in all KidsTown interactions, activities, and programs. Creates and maintains daily staff, intern, and volunteer schedules with a high degree of accuracy. Maintains organizational, tracking, and scheduling tools for the team including the KidsTown program schedule for the website, training calendars, cleaning schedules, and program number logs. Onboards and trains new staff, interns, and volunteers and keeps related schedules and documents accurate and up to date. Processes supply orders for KidsTown programs, events, and week to week needs as well as maintain inventory of regularly needed supplies and materials. Works with other full time KidsTown staff to provide support for all KidsTown events. Maintains a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for all KidsTown visitors. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Degree seeking or holds a degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Science Education, Museum Studies or a related field.
Experience & Certifications:
Proven experience working with children and families in a formal or informal setting, demonstrated customer service experience. Preferred Qualifications Leadership experience. Experience with theatrical performance, improv, or public speaking. Bilingual a plus. Supervisory Responsibility This position is directly responsible for the training and development of part time staff members, interns, and volunteers. Physical Demands Ability to remain in a stationary position. Moves throughout the museum. Ascends/descends stairs throughout the museum. Ascends/descends ladders or other equipment to perform various tasks. Observes and reacts to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Communicates and exchanges accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone. Operates a computer and/or office equipment efficiently and accurately. Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 25 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level. Rarely works in outdoor environments. Frequently works in indoor environments. Coping with demands and stresses associated with job and work environment. Kneeling and Crouching (frequently) Weight Levels – Lift, Push, Pull Up to 25 pounds Expected Hours of Work & Travel This position is full time and primarily works 3 days during the week, 2 weekend days. This position may need to work weekends and after hour events as needed. Travel throughout the Central Florida area may be required to attend conferences/trainings/deliver programs. Telecommuting This position is required to be onsite 80% of the time.
