Hourly Rate:
$16.65
Workdays/Hours:
Primarily Saturdays and Sundays for 5-hour shifts; occasionally other shifts as needed. Position provides historic interpretation of historic buildings and park grounds during guided tours. Responsibilities include assisting with recreational and educational programming, staffing facility rentals and special events, and a variety of other duties at West Point on the Eno Park, Leigh Farm Park, and other facilities. Duties/Responsibilities Welcomes visitors to assigned buildings, leads tours, and explains the historic significance of buildings and displays housed therein.
Assists other staff with programs such as crafts, hikes, and hands-on activities.
Staffs the Hugh Mangum Photography Museum and provides routine cleaning and upkeep.
Orients visitors to the parks and answers questions pertaining to the history of the sites.
Assists park staff during large-scale events by managing visitors
Transcribe primary source documents.
Performs basic cleaning of historic buildings.
KNOWLEDGE OF
- State and local history.

SKILLED IN
- Delivering presentations to groups.
- Record keeping.
- Transcribing primary source documents Minimum Qualifications & Experience High School Diploma, GED, HiSer, TASC.
One (1) year of experience in public speaking or customer service.
At least 16 years of age.
A valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED - with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification within the first six months of employment.
Additional Preferred Skills Availability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and/or evenings, on occasion, to assist with programs and staff buildings.
Customer service experience.
Experience accurately conveying historical topics and/or general information to an audience.
Experience assisting with child/youth educational programs.
Experience in completed coursework in American and/or North Carolina history. Employer
