Company:
Canopy Ridge Farm (CRF) is an Outdoor Adventure Park. We grow F-U-N for all ages! The #1 Outdoor Activity in Lake Lure, NC, CRF currently offers unique Zipline Adventure and UTV Adventure Tours through a beautiful 60-acre hardwood forest.
Guide Role:
Under supervision of the Lead Guide and Owners/Managers, the Guide enjoys working in a mountain woodland setting, leading and coaching guests as they zip and/or explore through a series of zip lines and/or trails. This is an active, outdoor position. Guides must reasonably manage risks and the well-being of all guests, provide assistance and guidance where necessary, and strive to provide each guest with an enjoyable and memorable experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following essential duties:
- Daily opening and closing procedures for zip line course and UTV trails
- Conduct inspections of all course components and gear
- Fit harnesses and helmets correctly and supervise the use of all safety equipment
- Conduct pre-tour safety speech for each tour and answer questions
- Demonstrate proper safety gear use and riding techniques
- Perform proper safety checks while following a series of critical safety protocols and methods
- Perform course retrievals and rescues
- Manage the risk and well-being of guests on tour
- Assist with park and gear maintenance efforts
- Attend required meetings and trainings
- Assist with office duties such as check-ins, weigh-ins, waivers, etc
- Use customer engagement skills to provide enjoyable and memorable experiences for guests
- Assist guests while loading and unloading vehicle
- Drive guests to and from zip lines
- Reinforce safety guidelines throughout tour
- Attach guests to zip lines, and perform safety checks before anyone zips, including self
- Assist with zip line landing of each guest
- Drive or lead UTV guests through trails
- Inspect course and equipment throughout tours
- Manage safety equipment inspection and maintenance, including but not limited to cleaning, sanitizing, organizing and prepping
Qualification Requirements:
Must complete and pass required site-specific safety training course (provided by CRF). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and needs to be able to work comfortably at heights. This person must be able to communicate effectively with both adults and children in both group and individual settings. Must be able to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively. Must be able to handle various tasks in a creative and motivated manner. Must have a great attention to detail to reasonably manage risks and provide overall positive guest experiences. Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Education and / or
Experience:
Must be at least 18 years old. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Prior experience with outdoor recreation, athletics, customer service, educational roles, and/or zip lines preferred.
Language Skills:
Guides must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or government regulations. Must be able to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to write clear inspection and safety reports. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Guides must have the physical capability to maneuver themselves as well as assist and accommodate participants of various sizes throughout the course, including rescue scenarios.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and exert physical mobility for up to 10 hours
- Must be able to hike, climb, and work at various heights and altitudes
- Must have full range of overhead arm motions and full hand dexterity
- Must have visual acuity and the ability to hear clearly in an outdoor environment in order to communicate with managers, coworkers, and guests
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuous basis
- Must have a strong upper body to pull self and be able to pull and push guests weighing up to 260lbs along each cable
- Must be able to effectively decrease the speed of and stop guests of various weights and speeds as they approach each landing
- Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat, stretch, push and pull on a regular and continuous basis
- Must have manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
Work Environment:
Guides are required to work in a fast-paced, physical, social, professional, and team-oriented work environment. Nearly all work is conducted outdoors in varied climates.
Alcohol & Drug Testing:
Employees may not arrive on duty under the influence of alcohol or drugs. As this position is a safety sensitive position, employees will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing.

Seasonal Salary:
$13.00 to $15.00/hour; average tips bring hourly rate to $25+ Additional Compensation /

Work Schedule:
As a seasonal position, the schedule will vary with the flow of the business. The Guide is expected to be available March
- December.
Exact days off will change based on the needs of the patrons and CRF. Weekend work may be required. CRF may be open 7 days per week during higher tourism times, and scheduling will accommodate the hours of operation.
