JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Center for the Performing Arts (CPA) in the College of Arts and Architecture (University Park, PA) is looking for two Arts Engagement Assistantsto join our Engagement Team to select artists that will engage and entertain their peers, promote events, support engagement activities, and co-facilitate an affiliate student organization.
The successful candidates will be supervised by the Student Arts Engagement Manager and work alongside all CPA departments to curate and promote performances and artistic engagement events that build a culture of creativity and belonging through transformative arts and culture experiences. Each assistant will work a total of 15 hours each week. At least five of those hours will be spent in a specific area of the CPA operations, such as marketing, ticketing or events planning/administration. With the remaining hours spent with the engagement team, creating and managing events and planning for upcoming shows and activities. Evening availably required. •Special preference for candidates with graphic design and marketing experience. Please note that this position will start in the Spring 2025 semester and continue remotely through the summer (5 hours a week) for those out of the area and return to hybrid for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. Job Duties Research and identify artists for inclusion in the Center for the Performing Arts schedule of performances. Curate and organize engaging artistic events for students across campus. Assist in promoting and covering CPA performances and engagement events. Completed work is shared with a vast and diverse audiences through a variety of channels, including but not limited to print materials, website, and social media platforms. Collect and analyze data to assess effectiveness of marketing efforts. Co-facilitate an affiliate student organization meetings. The successful candidate will develop skills in artistresearch, writing, interviewing, and events programming and promotion. Act as the public face of the CPA by representing it at various festival and fairs in the community and on campus. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications Current Penn State Student. Additionally, candidates should have strong communication skills and a willingness to work with peers and staff to effectively build community through the arts.
