Job Purpose and Duties:

Tourism Coordinator I’s provide excellent customer service to every visitor of the Welcome Center. These positions increase visitor spending in South Carolina through front-line information service and promotion of South Carolina destinations thus influencing current and future visitor travel plans. 1) Provide a positive, quality customer service experience to every visitor of the Welcome Center. 2) Promote destinations and accommodations to visitors in order to extend stays and increase visitor expenditures in South Carolina. 3) Expand personal scope of knowledge of South Carolina tourism and Welcome Center operations by participating in regular trainings. 4) Maintain complete and accurate inventory of literature and promotional materials to support visitor information and customer service efforts. 5) Maintain a good working relationship with visitors as well as other departments within SCPRT. Minimum and Additional Requirements Associate degree in hospitality, marketing, public relations, retail or closely related field preferred, or high school graduate/GED + two years of customer service and public contact experience in a related field.

Additional Requirements:

1) This position requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds, extensive walking and standing, and basic computer skills. 2) Some overnight training related travel is required. 3) Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license or government issued ID, 4) Applicant must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Additional Comments Actual Job Location:
