The Adventure Guide will lead guests of all abilities in a variety of outdoor activities. An Adventure Guide at Blackberry Mountain is a highly interactive position with our guests. They will be with guests daily both when on guided adventures and when not. We guide adventures both on and off the Mountain property including but not limited to: Hiking, Cycling, Mountain Biking, Climbing, Arbor Trekking, Off-Road driving, Camping, Paddle Boarding, Canoe/Kayak trips, etc. They will also promote our active lifestyle by interacting with guests in the
HUB. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following and other duties as assigned: Local and regional knowledge, particularly relating to the foothills and Great Smoky Mountains Leading guests on a variety of outdoor adventures both on and off the Blackberry Mountain property Assisting our Adventure Concierge team with guest needs in the Outfitter when available Involved with maintaining our equipment, trails, and adventure areas both in the HUB and throughout the Mountain Interacting with guests as a resource during non-guide time Must comply with all company policies and procedures. To perform the essential functions of this position, regular and consistent attendance is required. Must be able to work well with other Team Members and Managers and interact with our guests. Must have the flexibility to work weekends. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Prior guide experience is preferred Current CPR/First Aid certification Must have a valid driver’s license High School Diploma or GED and some college preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have excellent communication skills to effectively with guests, managers, and team members
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic knowledge and understanding of math
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to resolve any issues regarding guests in relation to the program Must be able to assess current and possible conditions to provide a quality experience and keep our guests safe Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on safety, job knowledge, and awareness of company goals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The nature of the Adventure Guide position is very physically demanding in all seasons and all weather conditions. Must be able to be on feet most or all of the shift Must be able to consistently lift up to 45 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle or golf cart
WORK ENVIRONMENT
