Primary Responsibilities:
Serves Shady Palm Café patrons with food and beverages in a positive and friendly manner.
Principle Duties:
Provides information to help customers with food and beverage selections. Upselling on all orders, promoting Shady Palm weekly specials and Winding Cypress special events. Presents ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner to the cook. Serves orders by picking up and delivering patrons’ choices from the bar or kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars. Maintains dining ambiance with a smile and an enthusiastic attitude. Prepares room for dining by setting tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils. Ensure service stations remain fully stocked with table settings, condiments, sugars, sodas, and napkins. Protects establishment and customers by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies. Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to patron spills and / or other special requests. Completes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules, including dishwashing as needed. Concludes dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting patrons to return. Obtain revenues by totaling charges, issuing bills, accepting payments, delivering bills and payments to host, and returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons. Staple merchant receipt to signature slip after every transaction. Compile all receipts at the end of night, perform end of day on shift through pos system, staple all sheets together and present to restaurant manager at clock out.
Physical, Mental and Visual Skills:
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical or rational thinking to resolve issues. Maintain professional image for service, i.e. upkeep of personal hygiene, no dirty clothes, no ripped jeans, mandatory non-slip shoes, and uniform usage. Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 60 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in ability to safely and effectively operate standard beverage service equipment High school diploma or one (1) year of bar or restaurant experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
Works primarily indoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
