POSITION SUMMARY:
Servers play a key role in a customer’s dining experience, so they need to be emotionally intelligent, approachable and have a positive attitude. Serving is an entry-level position, but previous experience is required in certain locations because the position is crucial to the customer’s dining experience. Tasks range from escorting guests to their table and explaining the menu and taking orders, to delivering not just a great meal but also a great experience. Thirsty Turtle is a high volume, high-energy environment; the expectation is that servers will be quick and efficient, providing a high level of customer service.
THIS POSITION IS PERMITTED TO ACCEPT SERVICE BAR TIPS. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING
Introducing themselves by name and checking-in at the table throughout the meal. Providing information about specials and promotions. Being an expert on the menu, dish ingredients, making recommendations, upsell when possible. Taking customer orders, inputting them correctly into the system. Asking about food allergies, checking ID when alcohol is ordered, and monitoring alcohol consumption. Communicating with kitchen staff, checking up on orders. Serving food and drinks, running items from the bar and kitchen. Clearing tables as customers finish, “pre-bussing.” Performs side work and other such duties as may be assigned. Collecting payment from guests. Assisting in tasks to ensure a clean, sanitized and safe restaurant. Developing a rapport with customers, ensuring customers have a positive, attentive experience.
MAJOR TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are some major tasks associated with the above
Essential Job Functions:
Cleaning and sanitizing customer touch points in the restaurant. Brings safety concerns to the attention of management. Alerts the Manager on duty of customer complaints, issues or needs. Clean and reset tables after guests have finished dining. Assist host by taking to-go orders, assisting with on line orders and delivery items. Set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties. Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, tea, beverages, napkins, side plates, etc. Fill sugar, salt and pepper shakers and wipe down tables throughout the shift. May be authorized to hold keys, open and close restaurant, collect server cash out envelopes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS- KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
Reports for work on time. Ability to prioritize and multi-task, analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrates integrity, maturity, dependability, tact, positive attitude, and enthusiasm on the job. Cooperates with others and recognizes the importance of teamwork in providing quality services. Maintains an appearance and demeanor consistent with our policies, maintains composure. Good communication skills. Knowledge of our operations and platforms/systems. Ability to handle a stressful environment, and exercise sound judgment. No known food allergies. WORKING CONDITIONS
The characteristics of the work environment described below are representative of those a Bartender encounters while performing the essential functions of this job at any of our locations: Constant, repetitive physical activity such as bending, walking, wiping, kneeling, twisting, reaching and prolonged periods of standing in a small space; must be able to climb a ladder when needed. React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet, and coordinate movement of several parts of the body. High level of manual dexterity to safely work with glass, knives and restaurant equipment. Auditory and visual skills. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Multitasking, handling different work activities, and shifting attention quickly from one task to another. Able to use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 40 lbs. Conditions in certain areas of the restaurant may expose the employee to odors, cold or heat, humidity, loud noise. Schedule flexibility needed, especially in season during peak high volume periods. Must have means of travel in order to get to work.
