Summary:
Responsible for guiding the club’s members and their guests through a memorable dining experience by attending, anticipating, and exceeding their expectations. While working as part of a team in a fast-paced, member-oriented environment, a Server must be knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, energetic, thoughtful, and detailed. This position is responsible for demonstrating genuine hospitality by welcoming, creating rapport, and delivering a consistent exceptional dining experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order. Attend pre-meal meetings to learn daily specials, methods of cooking, club announcements, and general club information. Is prepared and confident in presenting menu items including culinary preparations while handling allergens and dietary needs. Smiles and greets members by their name whenever possible and makes self-introduction. Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating. Informs members/guests of daily specials, takes orders for food and drinks, and inputs orders into a point-of-sale (POS) system. Gauges timing of food delivery to ensure members orders are prepared correctly and appropriate food temperatures are met without rushing or causing undue delays. Checks tables frequently to determine if diners have any needs or requests including drink refills, additional bread, butter, desserts, coffee, etc. Removes dishes as needed and clears the table after each course and resets them with appropriate silverware. Assists other Servers to ensure that all diners have an excellent dining experience. Requests members’ number and presents check for signature as necessary. Ensures that the correct account numbers and names are given for proper billing. Presents dessert menus, suggests, and serves dessert, coffee and after dinner drinks. Clears, cleans, and resets tables that have been vacated. Conduct opening and closing side work to ensure that everything is prepared for efficient service. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor and grooming standards to reflect a positive image of The Venice Golf and Country Club. Perform other duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Managers and Assistant Managers.

Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus, a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate well in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak on a one-on-one basis to members and guests. Ability to learn about every item on the menu, wine list, buffets, etc.
Computer Skills:
An individual should be proficient with point-of-sale (POS) electronic ordering system to perform this job successfully.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Safe Staff Food Handler Certificate. TIPS Certificate.
