Waitress/Cashier Kanaka cafe 71 Broad Street, Boston, MA 02109 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Server to join our team in a dynamic dining environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in the food industry, particularly in fine dining or nightlife settings. As a Server, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring that guests have a memorable dining experience. Your ability to upsell menu items and provide knowledgeable assistance will contribute significantly to our restaurant’s success. Duties Greet and welcome guests with a friendly demeanor, ensuring they feel valued and comfortable. Take food and beverage orders accurately, using the OpenTable system or similar platforms. Provide detailed menu descriptions and make recommendations to enhance the dining experience through upselling. Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining high standards of presentation. Assist in bussing tables and maintaining cleanliness throughout the dining area. Respond to guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and efficiency. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely order delivery and address any special requests. Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods, to assist guests effectively. Participate in ongoing training sessions related to food service standards and culinary trends. Requirements Previous experience in the food service industry is preferred, especially in fine dining or nightclub environments. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members. Ability to upsell menu items confidently while providing excellent customer service. Familiarity with restaurant management software such as OpenTable is a plus. A passion for culinary arts and an eagerness to learn about new dishes and beverages. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by the restaurant’s schedule. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others are essential traits for success in this role.
