Job Summary:
The Server is responsible for greeting guests, taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and providing an exceptional dining experience. They ensure that guests are satisfied with their meals, handle customer complaints professionally, and process payments accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction :
Greet guests promptly and warmly, escort them to their tables, and present menus.
Order Taking :
Accurately take food and drink orders, make menu recommendations, and answer any questions about the menu or daily specials.
Serving Food and Drinks :
Deliver orders to tables efficiently and in a timely manner, ensuring all items meet quality and presentation standards.
Check-Ins :
Regularly check on guests to ensure satisfaction and respond to any additional requests.
Knowledge of Menu :
Maintain an in-depth understanding of the menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods, including awareness of allergens and dietary restrictions.
Upselling :
Recommend additional menu items, such as drinks, appetizers, or desserts, to enhance the dining experience.
Customer Complaints :
Handle complaints gracefully, resolve issues, and escalate to a manager if necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
Processing Payments :
Provide checks, process cash and credit card transactions accurately, and return change promptly.
Cleaning and Resetting :
Clear tables after guests leave, reset for the next guests, and help maintain cleanliness in the dining area.
Collaboration :
Work closely with other staff members, including kitchen staff and hosts, to provide seamless service. Adhere to
Policies :
Follow restaurant policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and alcohol service.
Requirements:
Experience :
Prior experience as a server or in customer service is preferred but not always required.
Skills :
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong multitasking abilities, and attention to detail.
Physical Stamina :
Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for long periods of time.
Customer Service :
A friendly and outgoing personality with a focus on guest satisfaction.
Problem-Solving :
Ability to think quickly and handle challenges in a professional manner.
Teamwork :
Willingness to work collaboratively with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of POS Systems :
Familiarity with using point-of-sale (POS) systems for processing payments and orders.
Food Safety Certification :
Certification in food handling or alcohol service (e.g., ServSafe) is a plus.
Upselling Techniques :
Experience in suggesting additional menu items to increase sales.
