We are currently seeking a Controller based in our HQ in Melbourne. Candidates must be a citizen of the United States. Candidates must be located within commuting distance of Melbourne, FL. This full-time, exempt position is responsible for all accounting, financial, and human resource activities of the company. This includes payroll, tax compliance, HR administration, employee relations, benefits management, and regulatory compliance. The Controller & HR Manager will oversee the production of financial reports, maintain systems of accounting records and HR records, and establish controls designed to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and employment laws. This position reports directly to the

CEO. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Financial & Accounting:

Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, billing, payroll, perpetual inventory, fixed asset records, and general/cost accounting. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financial reports, variance analyses, and account reconciliations. Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of accounting systems, safeguard assets, and support strategic planning. Develop, implement, and improve financial policies and procedures. Oversee the annual budgeting process and manage forecasts. Provide financial analysis for company projects, capital expenditures, and cost evaluations. Monitor cash flow and line of credit usage, ensuring compliance with debt covenants. Ensure corporate tax compliance and timely filing of required returns. Coordinate and oversee audits; liaise with external auditors, insurance brokers, and financial institutions. Manage government contract financials under FARs. Support contract and lease review and equipment purchasing decisions.

Human Resources:

Serve as the primary HR contact for the organization, ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws. Manage employee lifecycle processes including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, and exit interviews. Administer employee benefit programs (healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.), including enrollments, changes, and employee communication. Maintain and update HR policies and procedures; ensure alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements. Manage employee relations and conflict resolution; support a positive and productive workplace culture. Ensure compliance with employment law and company policy regarding disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and workplace investigations. Coordinate training and development programs. Manage employee records and HR systems to ensure accuracy and confidentiality. Support leadership in strategic workforce planning and organizational development.

Supervisory:

Supervise staff in both finance and HR departments. Conduct performance reviews, manage work assignments, and mentor staff.

General:

Work closely with the CEO and leadership team on financial and HR strategies. Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field required. 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in a Controller or Accounting Manager role; HR experience required. Prior experience managing both finance and HR functions preferred.

Licensing and Certifications:

CPA required. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or

PHR/SPHR

certification a plus.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Proven ability to manage both financial and human resource operations. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Expertise in U.S. employment law, payroll, and benefits administration. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with accounting and HRIS systems.
