Description The Executive Director of Human Resources (HR) will provide strategic leadership and oversight for HR functions at LSU Health Shreveport, an academic medical center dedicated to excellence in healthcare, research, and education. This senior leadership position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing HR policies, programs, and services across the institution, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and regulatory requirements. The Executive Director of HR will collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and academic leaders to create a positive work environment, drive organizational development, and enhance employee engagement and retention in a complex healthcare and academic environment. Essential Position Functions & Duties Key Responsibilities (95%):

Leadership & Strategic Planning:

Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support LSUHS’s mission, vision, and goals, aligning HR practices with both academic and healthcare objectives.
Lead and manage the HR team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment that enhances employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness.
Drive HR programs and policies that are designed to meet the needs of LSUHS’s diverse workforce, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

Employee Relations:

Oversee and manage complex employee relations issues, providing guidance on conflict resolution, workplace disputes, and disciplinary and other sensitive personnel matters.
Promote a positive and inclusive work culture by facilitating fair, transparent communication, and proactive conflict resolution.
Manage investigations and escalated employee relations cases in compliance with university and healthcare regulations.
Maintains effective and collaborative partnerships within the institution, LSU System, Civil Service and AFSCME.

Talent Acquisition & Retention:

Develop and oversee effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent for both clinical and non-clinical roles across LSUHS.
Work closely with department heads to ensure recruitment strategies meet the needs of both academic and healthcare functions.
Manage and improve employee retention programs, including leadership development, mentoring, and succession planning.
Collaborate with academic leaders to address faculty and staff recruitment and retention strategies.
Ensure efficient operational workflow of hiring and onboarding for positive employee experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

Lead the development and administration of competitive compensation structures, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness across LSUHS.
Oversee employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing clear communication to staff regarding benefits offerings.
Analyze compensation data and market trends to recommend adjustments to salary structures, supplemental pay, and other incentives.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including labor laws, equal employment opportunity guidelines, and healthcare-specific regulations.
Oversee HR compliance reporting, audits, and risk assessments to minimize legal exposure and organizational risks.
Act as a subject-matter expert for HR-related legal and regulatory issues, advising senior leadership on necessary policy and procedural changes.

Organizational Development & Training:

Lead the design and implementation of training programs to promote staff development, leadership growth, and organizational effectiveness within both academic and healthcare context.
Coordinate with academic leaders and faculty to tailor HR development programs that support the needs of the educational environment.
Manage initiatives that promote equity and fairness.

HR Systems & Reporting:

Oversee the management and utilization of HR information systems (HRIS) for efficient data processing, reporting, and tracking of employee data.
Provide HR metrics and reporting to executive leadership, including key performance indicators such as turnover rates, employee engagement, and recruitment outcomes.
Analyze HR data to identify trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the HR department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet the needs of

LSUHSC-S.

Recommend cost-effective strategies to improve HR services and operational efficiency while maintaining high levels of employee satisfaction.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

Build strategic relationships with leadership across departments, working to ensure effective coordination and delivery of HR services.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, academic partners, and other institutions to enhance HR practices and workforce development programs.
Actively contribute to institutional committees, representing the HR department in strategic discussions related to growth, development, and innovations. Requirements:

Extensive knowledge of Business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
Extensive knowledge of Modern office practices and procedures, including record keeping methods, practices and procedures, office functions, regulations and procedures.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed.
Ability to maintain established records and files.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other employees, as well as administrative officials in other departments.
Ability to understand and interpret pertinent policies and procedures clearly and accurately.
Ability to use MS-DOS compatible computer and associated software to include but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint programs, as well proficiency in the use of MyEvaluations.
Ability to read and utilize periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, and thesauruses.
Ability to prepare business letters, summaries and proposals using the prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.
Ability to speak clearly in conversation, in person and telephonically, with faculty, co­ workers and the public, always responding in a courteous and professional manner.
Must be able to apply rational principles to complex administrative and medical/legal requirements for handling various documents and communications.
Must be able to plan work and develop procedures to deal with large quantities of correspondence, office records, and communications.
Must be able to make judgments and decisions without immediate access to a supervisor.
Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Healthcare Administration, or a related

Preferred:

Master’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline
Preferred Qualifications

Required:

Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in a healthcare, academic, or complex organizational
Proven experience managing employee relations, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, and HR compliance in a healthcare or academic medical center
Experience managing both clinical and non-clinical HR functions in a healthcare system or academic medical
