GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of an employee of a higher classification, performs administrative and professional engineering work as a licensed professional engineer directing a major organizational section or division for departments performing public works functions. Work involves supervising the planning, designing, construction, inspection, and/or maintenance of programs by applications of engineering reason and judgment. Administrative direction is exercised over a moderate sized staff, performing a wide variety of functions. Employees are routinely involved in planning future projects or operational improvements and providing technical assistance. Performs other work as requested

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in a recognized branch of professional engineering from the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board and eight years of experience in professional engineering, including two years of supervisory experience.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Any equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board .

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Possession of a license to practice professional engineering as issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Position(s) of this classification may require a valid Louisiana driver’s license. If license is required, must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
