PositionOverview:

The Chief of People and Strategy will be responsible forleading KIPP Kansas City’s human resources, talent development,sustainability efforts, and strategic planning functions. This rolewill work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to ensurethat our organization attracts, develops, and retains exceptionaltalent and implements strategic initiatives that driveorganizational growth and student success.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:

Collaborate with the Executive Director andsenior leadership team to develop and execute the organization’sstrategic plan. Lead the development and implementation of keystrategic initiatives that align with KIPP Kansas City’s missionand goals. Monitor and evaluate the progress of strategicinitiatives and provide regular updates to the Executive Directorand Board of Directors.

People Operations:

Oversee all aspects ofhuman resources, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding,performance management, compensation, benefits, and compliance.

Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote apositive and inclusive work environment. Ensure compliance with allfederal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

TalentDevelopment:

Design and implement comprehensive talent developmentprograms that support the growth and development of all staffmembers. Create and oversee leadership development initiatives tobuild a strong pipeline of future leaders within the organization.

Develop strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.

Sustainability Initiatives:

Lead the development and implementationof sustainability initiatives to promote environmentalresponsibility within the organization. Develop and overseeprograms to reduce the organization’s carbon footprint and promotesustainable practices in operations and facilities management.

Collaborate with external partners to enhance the organization’ssustainability efforts and community impact.

Culture andOrganizational Development:

Foster a strong, positiveorganizational culture that reflects KIPP Kansas City’s values andmission. Lead initiatives to promote diversity, equity, andinclusion within the organization. Implement programs and practicesthat support employee well-being and work-life balance.

PerformanceManagement:

Oversee the performance evaluation process to ensurethat all employees receive regular feedback and opportunities forgrowth. Develop and implement strategies to address performancechallenges and support employee success. Use data and analytics toinform decisions and measure the effectiveness of people andstrategy initiatives.

Board and Stakeholder Relations:

Collaboratewith the Executive Director to provide regular updates to the Boardof Directors on strategic initiatives, sustainability efforts, andpeople operations. Build and maintain strong relationships withexternal stakeholders, including community partners, funders, andeducation leaders.

Skills and Competencies:

Experience in drivingorg-wide cross departmental and cross functional strategic plansProven track record in building strong culture and team moralrelated to goals and priority setting. Strong knowledge of humanresources best practices, employment law, and sustainabilitypractices. Commitment to KIPP Kansas City’s mission and values,including a deep belief in the potential of all students. Excellentleadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability towork effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development,business administration, public administration, sustainability, ora related field (Master’s degree preferred or equivalent relevantexperience preferred). Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in humanresources, talent development, strategic planning, andsustainability initiatives, preferably in the education ornonprofit sector. Proven track record of developing andimplementing successful strategic and sustainability initiatives.

The candidate isexpected to attend conferences, meetings, and training sessionsboth virtually and in person within the Region. Work EnvironmentWorks Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.

Atypical school, office, or virtual environment with frequentinterruptions.

Travel Requirements:

This role requires occasionaltravel, ranging from 20-30%.
