Job Description

HR Benefits Specialist John’s Island Club 3 Johns Island Drive, Vero Beach, FL 32963 John’s Island Club is seeking an experienced HR Benefits Specialist who understands that behind every form, file, and policy is a person who matters. In this role, you’ll take ownership of our benefits programs – managing a variety of plans, ensuring compliance, and delivering a consistent, high-quality experience for our associates. You’ll also support HR generalist functions and collaborate closely with a knowledgeable, supportive HR team. Strong technology skills, attention to detail, and a process-oriented mindset are essential.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead benefits orientations and ensure communication is clear, accurate, and timely
  • Help associates understand their benefit plans and the value they offer, including available tools and lesser-known features
  • Manage daily benefits administration – enrollments, terminations, and changes – through a balance of technology and personal support
  • Accurately and promptly enter deductions in the UKG Ready HR/Payroll system and reconcile benefit invoices
  • Monitor associate hours and benefit eligibility, including compliance with 401(k) and ACA requirements
  • Create benefits-related content for newsletters, bulletin boards, and digital signage
  • Coordinate FMLA, disability, workers’ compensation, and other leaves of absence with associates, managers, and insurance providers
  • Investigate workplace accidents, assist injured workers, and contribute to company-wide safety efforts
  • Perform internal audits of benefits and payroll processes; prepare and analyze detailed reports; proactively monitor plans for discrepancies and correct errors
  • Oversee Open Enrollment and ensure legal compliance for all benefits plans
  • Respond to associate questions and provide guidance through complex, often personal insurance, claims, and retirement matters
  • Partner with vendors and brokers to resolve benefits-related issues
  • Assist with wellness initiatives and broader associate engagement efforts Support general HR functions, including onboarding, training, and new hire paperwork

What You’ll Need:

3+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role Strong working knowledge of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), FMLA, and ACA regulations Experience with HRIS systems required; familiarity with UKG Ready is a plus Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred Human Resources certification, or willing to pursue
