About the Payroll and BenefitsSpecialist Role The Payroll and Benefits Specialist plays acritical role in managing payroll processing and benefitsadministration, ensuring employees are supported with accurate payand access to essential benefits. This role requires a keen eye fordetail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach tohandling payroll and benefits-related inquiries. As a key contactfor both internal employees and external agencies, the Payroll andBenefits Specialist ensures compliance with payroll and benefitsregulations while delivering exceptional service. KeyResponsibilities of the Payroll and Benefits Specialist Processemployment verification requests quickly and efficiently. Manageand complete garnishment answer notices , ensuring compliance withlegal requirements. Generate, review, and distribute a variety ofpayroll and workforce reports , including new hire, termination,headcount, employee changes, and leave of absence reports. Extractand import sales commission files from sales systems into payrollsystems across multiple locations. Accurately enter payrolltransactions such as driver commissions, merchandiser pay, bonuses,and sales deductions (over/short deductions, loan deductions,etc.). Assist in bi-weekly payroll processing , ensuring accuracyand compliance with company policies. Set up and maintaingarnishments and child support deductions in the payroll system andinternal database. Process Qualified Medical Child Support Orders(QMCSO) and National Medical Support Notices (NMSN) per legalrequirements. Handle unemployment claims , providing wageverification and necessary documentation. Coordinate benefitscommunication , distributing announcements and updates whilemaintaining internal intranet postings. Conduct deduction reviewsto ensure payroll and benefits contributions are accurate.
Represent the Payroll and Benefits Specialist role in new hireonboarding , educating employees about 401(k) and company benefits. Support 401(k) audits , gathering required documents andpreparing requested reports. What You Bring as a Payroll andBenefits Specialist Bachelor’s degree in a related field orequivalent experience in payroll and benefits administration.
Bilingual candidates preferred (English/Spanish a plus). At leastfive years of experience in a payroll and benefits function,preferably within a mid-to-large-sized company.
