Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of experience in employee benefits; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

JOB DISTINCTIONS

Differs from Retirement Benefits Analyst 2 by the absence of experienced-level retirement benefits analysis work.
Examples of Work
Lead staffer on the retirement benefit calculator. Works in conjunction with the actuary to ensure the program is up to date with legislative or board policy changes. Ensures that all calculations are being reviewed. Works to ensure that the calculation software is interfacing with the system database in the appropriate manner.
Lead staffer on year-end tax forms for all retirees and beneficiaries, ensuring that all distributions are coded correctly and accounted for. Assists in the preparation of information for board and legislative presentations. Compiling data and member information as needed.
