Job Summary:
The Benefits and Leave Specialist is responsible for administering employee benefits programs and managing leave of absence requests in compliance with federal, state, and company policies. This role ensures accurate and timely communication, documentation, and support for employees throughout the benefits and leave processes, including FMLA, ADA, short-term and long-term disability, workers’ compensation, and other leave programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration Administer and coordinate employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, retirement plans, etc.). Serve as a primary contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing guidance and resolving issues. Assist with annual open enrollment processes including communications, system updates, and vendor coordination. Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, and other applicable laws and regulations. Maintain accurate benefit records in HRIS systems and ensure timely updates for new hires, terminations, and life events. Liaise with third-party vendors to address employee concerns and improve service delivery. Leave Management Administer all employee leaves including FMLA, ADA, personal leave, parental leave, military leave, and other statutory leave programs. Evaluate leave eligibility, track usage, and ensure documentation is complete and in compliance with legal requirements. Work closely with managers and employees to coordinate return-to-work processes and accommodations. Maintain up-to-date records and generate reports related to leave trends and compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). 2-4 years of experience in benefits administration and/or leave management. Solid understanding of federal and state leave laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and benefits regulations. Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. High level of discretion and confidentiality.
