FUNCTION AND SCOPE
This position is a ten-month temporary position reporting to the Benefits Administrator, performs and oversees various tasks in benefits and retirement administration, such as ensuring employees benefits and retirement information is accurate, extension of benefits under various State and Federal laws, disability plans, hourly paid employee benefit administration, working within Research Foundation policy guidelines and in compliance with legal requirements. This position provides outstanding sponsored program administration services and stewardship to the SUNY community (faculty, students, and other staff) and sponsors respectively.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides customer service to campus contacts and retirees. Processes the Wellness Program taxation file. Responsible for all health plan audits and internal controls for enrollment in benefit plans. Responsible for review of identifying missed deduction on health, dental, vision, and flexible spending plans. Responsible for resolving discrepancies from weekly electronic vendor files. Processes payments and enrollment reconciliation for benefit invoices. Verifies benefit eligibility and processes benefit enrollment in the Oracle business system for central office employees and centralized campus employees. Assists with the daily operations of the HRIS benefits module, including life event evaluation and processing, analysis of benefit reports and files for accuracy of records, troubleshoots system problems and recommending solutions to the Benefits Administrator. Applies RF benefits policies and procedures, plan documents, contracts, government regulations when corresponding and assisting Campus Benefits Administrators, plan providers, employees, and retirees. Processes Qualified Medical Support Notices for all campus locations. Coordinate enrollment as required by the Medical Support Notice Assist with audits to ensure benefits records are accurate. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
SKILLS/EDUCATION
Background in benefits administration and knowledge of PC-based applications preferred. Ability to work independently. Organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records. Good communication skills. An Associate’s degree preferred or progressive experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Compensation for this position:
The compensation for this role is between $50,000- $52,000. The pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.
