Workers Compensation Authorization Specialist (Physical Therapy)

Lindenhurst, NY 11757 LI Premier Physical & Aquatic Therapy is seeking an experienced Physical Therapy Workers Compensation Specialist to join the team. A Physical Therapy Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and obtaining prior authorizations for physical therapy services. They ensure that patients receive necessary medical care by working with insurance providers to obtain the necessary authorizations.

Key Responsibilities:

Verify insurance coverage: Confirming that patients’ insurance plans cover the proposed physical therapy services.

Obtain prior authorizations:

Requesting and securing pre-approval from insurance companies before services can be provided.

Manage authorization requests:

Tracking authorization requests, following up on pending authorizations, and resolving any issues.

Communicate with insurance companies:

Interacting with insurance providers, explaining the need for authorization, and addressing any questions or concerns.

Coordinate with clinical staff:

Collaborating with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to gather necessary documentation for authorization submissions.

Maintain accurate records:

Documenting authorization information in patient records and maintaining accurate records of authorization status.

Review and analyze insurance policies:

Understanding coverage requirements for various insurance plans.

Stay up-to-date on regulations:

Keeping abreast of changes in insurance regulations and policies. Follow up on denials and appeals: Investigating insurance denials, resubmitting requests, and filing appeals when necessary. Explain the authorization process to patients: Communicating the prior authorization process to patients, including any potential delays or financial implications.
