Job Description

Benefits Specialist 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Clinton, TN 37716 Purpose of Classification The classification of this position acts as a liaison between employees and the benefits company, assisting in the coordination and administration of the benefits program for Anderson County Government, including but not limited to health insurance, dental insurance, flexible benefits, retirement, disability, supplemental coverages, and employee assistance programs, Works closely with the Director in executing the County’s health management goals. Essential Functions Answer benefits questions, research specific questions and respond as necessary. Receive, review and process benefits applications. Serve as liaison between employees and benefits companies; resolve claim problems as necessary with confirmation of the Human Resources and Risk Managment Director. Process new hire benefit information. Assist with employee orientations to ensure precise interpretation of benefits is accomplished. Compile benefits spreadsheet(s). Process and reconcile insurance billing and spreadsheets. Work closely with the payroll staff to ensure that levels of coverage for all employees on benefit plans are accurate. Coordination of employees leaves of absence ADA, USERRA, FMLA, disability, etc, for benefit continuity and employer compliance. Conduct leave audits at the Director’s request. Maintain leave database/spreadsheet. Assist with the coordination of annual Benefit Information Sessions and Open Enrollment. Assist the Human Resources and Risk Management Director with special projects as necessary. Assist the Human Resources and Risk Management Director at meetings as needed. Create and maintain employee census information for benefit carriers. Assist with conduction internal audits regularly. Coordination of unemployment benefits with employees and applicable vendors at the Director’s knowledge and input. Performs general clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, typing documents, making copies sending/ receiving faxes, filing documentation, or processing incoming or outgoing mail. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Management or a related field; Minimum of 2-4 years in a variety of human resource assignments, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Deep knowledge of regulations and benefit options, as well as employee data recording. Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills Proficient in MS Office. Attention to Detail. Time Management. Marketing and Event Planning.
