Purpose of Classification The purpose of this classification is to oversee, direct and assess employee wellness efforts and engagement programs as well as provide day-to-day support for the Benefits team including working in personnel records and providing customer service to Knox County teammates and leadership teams. Essential Functions Plan, direct and implement employee wellness initiatives and programs throughout the year. Monitor group outcomes against wellness program participation; assist in analyzing group statistical data; and assist in evaluating return on investment. Develop a long-term strategy to increase healthy behaviors and encourage the use of wise healthcare consumer strategies. Provide creative support and planning of wellness initiatives to all County departments and develop innovative methods to empower departments in engaging employees in the program. Directs the employee gym facility to ensure a clean, safe environment for employees utilizing facility. Tracks participant access and ensure proper forms and orientation for gym facility are in place. Creates and distributes monthly Benefits and Wellness newsletters. Drafts and maintains records and reports related to services and programs provided, which may include tracking attendance, participation, and other metrics. Develops marketing campaigns to promote wellness programs and services to a targeted audience. Conducts, and analyzes the results of surveys and interviews to gauge satisfaction with current programs and services and interest in new programs and services. Assist with management of employee wellness vendors and partnerships. Assist with all activities related to employee benefits; work closely with benefits team to plan, design, implement and modify benefit programs for Knox County Government employees; follow Benefits Department procedures and protocols; maintain and utilize knowledge of federal and state laws as they affect employee benefits Assist with Benefits Department communications; answer benefits inquiries; prepare for and assist with annual benefits open enrollment. Ensure regular, punctual attendance during scheduled work hours Respond to and report immediately if called upon by local, regional or state office supervisors as part of a coordinated Emergency Response by the Knox County Mayor’s Office Perform other duties as required Minimum Training & Qualifications HS Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Health and Wellness, or related field is preferred Minimum of three (3) years related experience in benefits and/or employee wellness. SHRM CP or SCP preferred Health or wellness credentialing/licensing preferred Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for employment into the position Specialized Knowledge Understand key concepts and terminology used in benefits, human resources and the insurance industry as well as in healthcare and wellness Competencies Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate complex and/or sensitive information to others Ability to communicate and demonstrate professionalism with a variety of individuals Proficient in the use of PCs, tablets, smartphones and other electronic devices Intermediate Microsoft Office skills Demonstrated knowledge of compliance issues related to state and federal regulations related to benefits, human resources and wellness programs Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team Ability to manage responsibilities of moderate complexity Ability to work with limited supervision to prioritize and meet goals Ability to work collaboratively and build and maintain effective partnerships Highly organized with attention to detail Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to engage in occasional light to moderate physical activity.
