Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Benefits & Leave Manager to lead the strategy, administration, and continuous improvement of our employee benefits programs. This role will report to the Head of Human Resources and oversee the full lifecycle of health and welfare benefits, ERISA qualified and non-qualified savings plan administration, and leave of absence policies for over 2,000 employees. The ideal candidate will have public company experience with self-insured plans and be a hands-on subject matter expert with strong analytical capabilities, vendor management experience, and a commitment to delivering positive employee experience while ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage all employee benefits programs and policies, including self-funded medical, dental, vision, life insurance, wellness initiatives, ERISA qualified and non-qualified savings plans and voluntary offerings.
  • Manage third-party vendors and benefit consultants; lead contract negotiations and performance evaluations to ensure high service levels and competitive offerings.
  • Maintain benefits data in ADP Workforce Now, including processing new hire enrollments, life events, and terminations; manage and troubleshoot vendor file feeds.
  • Reconcile and audit monthly invoices across all benefit providers; ensure accurate billing and timely payments.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for leave of absence administration, including
FMLA, ADA

accommodations, and disability policies in partnership with the TPA.

  • Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, and Legal teams to ensure accurate reporting, plan funding, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local laws governing benefits and leaves, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and filings such as Form 5500 and ACA reporting.
  • Lead benefit communication efforts including new hire orientation, open enrollment, and ongoing employee education campaigns.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, market benchmarks, and regulatory changes to ensure benefit offerings remain competitive and compliant.
  • Continuously evaluate internal processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance employee engagement.
  • Performs and presents data analyses related to the design, delivery and ongoing evaluation of benefits programs to assess effectiveness and quality of plans of current programs and those of potential merger and acquisition programs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience managing health and welfare benefits, with extensive knowledge of self-funded health plans.
  • Proven experience with benefit compliance, audits, filings, and plan administration.
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage external vendor relationships.
  • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
  • Analytical thinker with a process improvement mindset and the ability to drive initiatives independently.
