JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Company’s international shoreside and shipboard group benefit and retirement programs. This role provides strategic oversight, ensures effective program delivery, and drives continuous improvement across all benefits offerings. Responsibilities include resolving complex, non-routine issues, enhancing existing programs, and delivering exceptional service to both internal stakeholders and external partners.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and oversee the administration of group welfare and retirement plans for the NCLH International offices and shipboard officers and crew.
Lead the selection, implementation, and ongoing management of benefits plans, providers, carriers, and consultants.
Ensure that the company maintains a competitive posture in the marketplace and that international shoreside benefits align with the U.S. shoreside plans.
Monitor global benefits trends and legislative developments to ensure compliance and maintain program competitiveness.
Lead the implementation of new benefit offerings and manage the annual renewal process for existing programs.
Oversee the administration and regulatory compliance of retirement plans for shipboard officers.
Develop and execute communication strategies for new and existing benefits programs, including targeted email campaigns and multi-channel outreach.
Partner with local HR teams, benefits providers, and other cross-functional departments to ensure effective program delivery and support.
Analyze benefits cost data and support the development of annual budgets and contribution strategies.
Ensure that testing of all Benefits Administration and Base Benefits system developments, enhancements and upgrades is completed prior to production implementation in conjunction with HRIS Manager.
Staff, train, and motivate team members to ensure efficient and accurate administration of benefits programs. Foster professional growth and continuous learning.
Lead GSC Benefits programs and ensure alignment with local regulatory requirements.
Manage non-collective bargaining agreement (non-CBA) shipboard benefits programs.
Provide strategic oversight of shipboard benefits initiatives to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with company goals.
Lead the evaluation and recommendation of benefit offerings for new international office locations.
Conduct benchmarking of international benefits programs to maintain competitiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Support global and shipboard benefits cost analysis, modeling, and forecasting initiatives.
Enhance and tailor communication strategies for shipboard and international populations to drive awareness and understanding of available benefits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS DEGREE TYPE
Bachelor Degree FIELD(S)
OF STUDY
Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field of study; or any relevant equivalent work experience, training, skills and/or certifications.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of progressive Benefits experience.
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of Health, Welfare, and Retirement benefits programs.
In-depth understanding of international employment laws and regulations related to health, leave, and disability benefits, including country-specific requirements and best practices.
Strong analytical skills for monitoring and improving benefits programs.
Excellent communication skills to counsel management and team members.
Effective liaison skills for working with benefits providers and resolving team member concerns.
Superior organizational skills to oversee multiple programs and processes.
Strong time management skills to ensure timely processing of leave requests and payments.
Strategic thinking for recommending program improvements and developing long-range objectives.
Meticulous attention to detail for ensuring compliance and accuracy in leave accrual, time entry, and benefits processing.
Strong team collaboration skills to work effectively with the benefits team and other departments.
