POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Employee Benefits supports the planning, coordination, and administration of employee benefits programs, open enrollment, and process improvements. Assists the Director in advising senior leadership on strategic planning and implementation, while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree required.

WORK EXPEREINCE

5 years relevant experience required. Track record of successfully handling multiple projects simultaneously. Work experience in K-12 education preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Demonstrated experience in employee benefits administration and process improvement. Engaging leadership style needed. Strong understanding of benefits compliance requirements and regulatory guidelines. Proven ability to analyze data, develop metrics, and lead operational enhancements. Experience in the public sector or educational institutions preferred. Exceptional presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles. Manages customer relations with both internal and external parties to ensure the highest level of customer service. Responds to written and verbal inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Leads and manages employee benefits plans and related process improvements. Supervises and coaches Benefits Team by monitoring daily tasks and evaluating performance data. Coordinates and oversees open enrollment activities and employee benefits seminars. Responds to escalated inquiries and resolves issues related to benefits policies and practices. Interprets and communicates benefits policies to employees and retirees; provides guidance on insurance options and changes. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; seeks qualified opinions as needed and advises leadership on required actions. Analyzes operational processes and recommends improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Assists in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the benefits function. Reviews SOPs to identify control deficiencies and suggests corrective actions. Prepares reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other communications related to benefit operations. Research best practices in benefits administration and documents findings. Analyzes data to develop benchmarks and performance metrics. Collaborates with internal and external team members to implement changes and improvements. Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed Performs other duties as assigned.
