Your New Role
The Director of Retirement Plans will lead the strategic design and development of Warner Bros. Discovery’s U.S. retirement programs. This role is instrumental in shaping financial wellness initiatives that resonate with employees and promote financial wellbeing. The value of programs in scope: $8B+ in assets with 40,000 participants.
Your Role Accountabilities
Design Strategy and Program Development As the Director of Retirement Plans, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to develop and deliver benefit program strategies that align with Warner Bros. Discovery’s holistic Total Rewards philosophy.
401(k)
Plan Design:
Ensure the 401(k) plan remains competitively designed, aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and drives strong savings behaviors. In collaboration with internal and external partners, you will:
Develop data-informed recommendations for plan enhancements and scope operational considerations.
Lead the design process—from concept through delivery—including change management and employee education.
Define and track key performance metrics to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
This position requires comprehensive technical knowledge of 401(k) plan design, including an advanced understanding of the regulatory environment, market practices, benchmarking, plan analytics, and related performance indicators. This experience is developed through a track record of managing large, complex defined contribution plans that successfully drive positive participant outcomes.
Financial Wellbeing Programs and Services:
Lead the strategic development and delivery of financial wellbeing programs, including implementing financial wellness initiatives aimed at enhancing financial literacy and promoting financial fitness among employees.
This involves:
Evaluating the current suite of financial wellbeing resources and services.
Developing data-informed recommendations for program enhancements or new offerings.
Managing the full lifecycle of financial wellness program delivery, from initial concept and design through implementation, administration and ongoing measurement.
Drive Employee Engagement with Financial Programs
In partnership with internal teams and external vendors, you’ll develop and implement impactful engagement strategies for Warner Bros. Discovery’s retirement and financial wellbeing programs. You’ll create accessible, inclusive communications and educational experiences that: Increase awareness and understanding of available programs
Maximize employee participation and satisfaction
Address diverse employee needs and enable positive outcomes
Deliver a consistently high-quality people experience
You will identify and prioritize engagement opportunities through data analysis and insights, continuously monitoring key metrics to assess impact. This role requires the ability to confidently flex between analytical thinking and strategic storytelling to refine and evolve engagement strategies over time.
Relationship Management and Stakeholder Engagement
You will manage relationships with vendor partners to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality services. This involves leading the evaluation and selection of new vendors as needed.
Additionally, you will build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders, staying attuned to emerging needs and opportunities, and working cross-functionally to promote retirement and financial wellbeing offerings in alignment with key objectives.
Special Projects
Support and lead cross-functional initiatives that extend beyond core retirement program responsibilities, contributing to the broader success of Warner Bros. Discovery’s Total Rewards strategy.
Partner on projects related to the company’s nonqualified deferred compensation plans.
Lead or collaborate on benefit program initiatives as needed, including M&A due diligence and integration, preparation of executive and committee materials, and plan document governance.
Maintain working knowledge of key 401(k) operational and compliance processes to serve as a backup to the functional lead.
Qualifications & Experience
Work Experience:
7-10+ years of progressive benefits experience in a complex multinational organization, with a strong focus on 401(k) plan design/administration and financial wellbeing programs (including oversight for financial planning/advice services).
Deep understanding of benefit design principles, practices, regulations, and trends, with demonstrated experience in applying that understanding to develop creative and compliant solutions.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining effective participant engagement strategies with demonstrated success measurements.
A track record of developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships and engagement, working collaboratively to drive business outcomes.
Proven experience managing vendor relationships, ensuring optimal service delivery and value.
Experience with industry-leading recordkeeping and payroll systems, including a working understanding of how data elements are transferred/ integrated between various systems.
Experience with M&A activities (e.g., due diligence, integrations, divestitures).
Preferred:
experience with nonqualified deferred compensation plans and defined benefit plans.
Knowledge/Skills:
Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic benefit programs and services, with focus on retirement plans and financial programs, that balance organizational goals and employee needs.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including a demonstrated ability to use data to inform and drive decisions. Keenly focused and able to pay careful attention to important details.
Strong program and project-management skills, leveraging exemplary organization and relationship management skills to manage evolving priorities, anticipate obstacles, and ensure stakeholder engagement.
Well-developed communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. Ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
Proven ability to distill and communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
In-depth knowledge of ERISA and IRS regulations and laws governing US retirement plans.
Understanding of evolving market practices, vendor solutions, and legal requirements to determine impact and identify opportunities.
Commitment to handling sensitive and confidential information in a highly professional manner.
Proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe, with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:
BA/BS in Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
