A renownedpartner hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate RegionalMedical Director to oversee a portfolio of 20-35 animal hospitalsin the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. This field-based roleoffers a unique opportunity to collaborate with talented veterinaryteams to ensure exceptional patient care, while also drivingoperational success and enhancing the overall performance of theregion’s hospitals. The Regional Medical Director will travelwithin the area, working closely with hospital staff to elevatemedical practices and optimize hospital operations.
KeyResponsibilities:
Lead and mentor veterinary teams, providing support on complexmedical cases while fostering a positive, collaborative workenvironment. Ensure high-quality patient care by monitoring medicalprotocols, doctor interactions, and treatment standards across allhospitals. Assist in resolving staff and client conflicts, encouragingopen communication and effective problem-solving. Collaborate with practice managers and regional directors todrive business operations, improving performance across hospitalsin the region. Conduct quarterly inspections to maintain high standards ofoperational and medical excellence. Review and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such asrevenue, visits, and medical outcomes, and implement strategies toimprove overall performance. Mentor new graduate veterinarians, supporting their transitioninto practice and helping them build their careers. Ensure compliance with all medical, operational, and regulatorystandards, including maintaining proper licensing records and DEAlogs. Step in to fill urgent staffing needs and assist with complexcase management as needed.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is ahighly experienced veterinarian with strong leadership skills and apassion for advancing animal care. The ability to communicateeffectively, analyze data, and manage a multi-location region isessential.
Qualifications include:
DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution. 5+ years of clinical veterinary experience, with leadershipexperience preferred. Active veterinary license and DEA in good standing for NorthCarolina (or the ability to obtain). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the abilityto interpret performance data and make strategic improvements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with theability to build strong relationships with veterinary teams andclients. Ability to travel regularly within the Raleigh/Durham area tosupport hospitals across the region.
Location & Travel:
Thisfield-based role is located in the Raleigh/Durham area of NorthCarolina and requires frequent travel to multiple animal hospitalsin the region. Candidates should be based in or near Raleigh/Durhamfor efficient travel logistics.
