An extension of Gallagher’s regional and national management team with local authority, the Area President will oversee all strategic and tactical operations functions of the Gulf States branch which includes multiple locations in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. This leadership position will extend to implementing business strategies, developing and achieving sales goals, investing in key talent, driving and communicating financial goals, and achieving operational excellence. Key Responsibilities:
Business Management Leads, personally participates in and is responsible for all business activities of the office. Serves as principal local advocate (inside and outside the office) in communicating the Gallagher Better Works value proposition of Gallagher Benefit Services, the capabilities of the firm, our business philosophy and core values. Contributes to the expansion of the company’s footprint across the Gulf States market with an eye toward acquisition and organic growth. Collaborates with regional leadership to establish annual and three-year business plans for the Gulf States branch and implements strategies to exceed growth, productivity and profitability ratios. Holds annual strategic planning meetings with key personnel and ensures alignment of their teams to the overall plan. Regularly reviews progress against the branch dominant priorities, making adjustments as needed. Ensures the branch embraces professionalism, compliance and E&O standards. Sales Management Drives organic growth by providing leadership to the branch in both strategic and day-to-day sales management. Ensures Producers have clear goals and business plans and are performing to standards (driving growth, utilizing available tools, supporting individual and team deals, contributing to target niches and cross-solving opportunities, etc.) Serves as the advocate for, and coach to, all office employees. Focuses on employee engagement, training and development to reduce turnover, achieve high employee performance and to increase the high-performer retention rate. Implement appropriate succession plans to guarantee the continued success of the office. External Growth Develops potential merger and acquisition partners. Identifies and recruits new producer hires and profitable book purchase opportunities. Client and New Business Management Serves as the principal client retention and new business champion in the office, assuring the delivery of service excellence, including implementation and oversight of client service best practices and procedures. Maintains an ongoing relationship with the top-level decision-maker of major clients. Supports Producers and Client Service Teams in dealing with difficult client issues and claims management. People Management and Development Ensures focus on people development, employee engagement and branch culture to include: sourcing of external top talent for recruitment succession planning for critical roles development of key talent performance management of under-performers completion of performance reviews effective use of compensation to reward performing employees Market Relations Maintains and develops top-level market contacts on a local basis. Develops a strategy for strengthening market relations to strategically fit our clients’ needs. Where applicable, works with relevant parties to negotiate favorable profit-sharing agreements. Provides leadership to marketing initiatives to ensure the branch is accomplishing its goals. Financial Performance Manages P&L to ensure budgeting and sales forecasting commitments are achieved. Conducts monthly financial review session with each unit of the branch to identify opportunities, risks and mid-term adjustments as needed.
Required Experience :
Bachelor’s degree 10+ years’ leadership experience in insurance or brokerage. Thoughtful strategic leader capable of developing vision, driving results and fostering collaboration. Builder of teams; capable of attracting high-caliber talent to the organization and integrating to the culture and team. Demonstrated track record of growth; passion for successfully managing change management and driving accelerated growth. Strong credible reputation in the Employee Benefits market. Proven track record of achieving goals/objectives and developing sales strategy and supporting initiatives. Strong financial acumen with successful P&L management experience; capable of measuring, delivering and interpreting results to key stakeholders on a regular basis. Proven ability to effectively balance multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Strong collaborative style and capable influencer; particularly with the Producer team, the Consulting team and the Client Service team. Other key stakeholders include Regional, Divisional and Practice Leaders. Excellent communication and negotiation skills exhibited during interpersonal interactions, presentations, and written communications. Consistent demonstration of exceptional business acumen and functional knowledge of Employee Benefits and all elements of the Gallagher Better Works value proposition. Passion for developing others.
