About the Agency
The Mississippi Board of Pharmacy was established by legislative action in 1920. The mission of the Board is to protect and promote the health and safety of Mississippi citizens by regulating and controlling the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of prescription drugs. The Mississippi Board of Pharmacy is comprised of seven pharmacist members, all appointed by the Governor. They are assisted by an administrative staff headed by an Executive Director appointed by the Board. Pharmacy board staff provide a range of services through 5 departments for the agency: Legal, Licensing, Compliance, Prescription Monitoring Program, and Pharmacy Benefit Managers.
About the Position
The individual selected for this position will oversee PBM compliance, policy development, and administrative actions as directed by legislative authority regarding PBM activities, as outlined in the MS Pharmacy Benefit Prompt Pay Act, the Pharmacy Benefit Audit Integrity Act, and other applicable state and federal laws and regulations. The individual will serve as the agency’s primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders for PBM matters. The salary for non-pharmacists will be based on experience with a minimum salary of $82,482.28 annually. The salary for licensed pharmacists will be based on applicable experience with a minimum salary of $104,384.53 annually.
What you’ll need to be Successful
A high degree of skill in organization, multitasking, and attention to detail is necessary. Ability to write clear and concise reports, emails, and presentations. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Knowledge of the national and local pharmacy benefit management and pharmacy landscape would be highly beneficial. Proficiency in analyzing data and utilizing Microsoft Excel would be helpful. Must be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, a desire to be an effective team player, and a willingness to participate in all agency initiatives. Must demonstrate and practice ethical behavior, professionalism, and confidentiality. Analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Pharmacist Candidates:
State licensure as a pharmacist with 5 years of experience. Candidates should possess a high level of knowledge of the PBM landscape with related experience.
Non-Pharmacist Candidates:
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience. An advanced degree may be used as a substitute for years of experience and/or supervisory experience. Pharmacy or PBM-related experience preferred.
